Don't Leave Me
L. Subramaniam/Stéphane Grappelli Lyrics

I've hung around you just like a fool
Falling head and heels in love like a kid out of school.
My poor heart is in an awful state now
But it's too late now to call a halt
So if I become a nuisance it's all your fault!
Don't blame me for falling in love with you
I'm under your spell but how can I help it!
Don't' blame me!
Can't you see when you do the things you do!
If I can't conceal the thrill that I'm feeling,
Don't blame; me.
Ican't help it if that doggoned moon above
Makes me need someone like you to love!
Blame your kiss as sweet as a kiss can be
And blame all your charms that melt in my arms
But don't blame me.
I like every single thing about you
Without a doubt you are like a dream
In my mind I find a picture of us as a team
Ever since the hour of our meeting
I've been repeating a silly phrase
Hoping that you'll understand me one of these days.
The song "Don't Leave Me" by L. Subramaniam/Stéphane Grappelli tells the story of a person who has fallen deeply in love with someone and cannot help it. They feel like a fool for falling so hard and fast, but they cannot deny their feelings. They are afraid that their love may be seen as a nuisance but they cannot control how they feel. The person is saying that they should not be blamed for falling in love because it is not their fault, and instead, the blame should be placed on the other person's charm and sweet kiss. The song expresses the helplessness and vulnerability of falling in love, and the fear of not being able to control one's own emotions.
The lyrics of the song are simple yet poetic, with the use of imagery and metaphors, as well as a repetition of certain verses, which adds emphasis to the message of the song. The use of violin and Indian classical music also adds a unique touch to the song and makes it stand out.

Ever since the lucky night I found you
From the moment I met you, I knew I was fortunate
I've hung around you just like a fool
I've been foolishly obsessed with being near you
Falling head and heels in love like a kid out of school.
I have fallen deeply in love, like a naive child
My poor heart is in an awful state now
My heart is in distress and turmoil
But it's too late now to call a halt
But it's too late to stop my feelings
So if I become a nuisance it's all your fault!
So if I become a bother, it's because of your irresistible charm
Don't blame me for falling in love with you
Please don't hold me responsible for loving you
I'm under your spell but how can I help it!
You have enchanted me, and I can't resist it
Don't' blame me!
Please don't accuse me!
Can't you see when you do the things you do!
Can't you see that your actions are causing me to feel this way?
If I can't conceal the thrill that I'm feeling,
If I can't hide the excitement I feel
Don't blame; me.
Please don't fault me
I can't help it if that doggoned moon above
I can't control my emotions when the moon is full
Makes me need someone like you to love!
The moon causes me to crave someone like you to love
Blame your kiss as sweet as a kiss can be
Put the blame on your irresistible, sweet kiss
And blame all your charms that melt in my arms
And fault your charming ways that make me weak in the knees
But don't blame me.
But please don't hold me accountable
I like every single thing about you
I adore everything about you
Without a doubt you are like a dream
You are completely dreamy to me
In my mind I find a picture of us as a team
I can imagine us together as a perfect match
Ever since the hour of our meeting
Since the moment I met you
I've been repeating a silly phrase
I've been saying something silly over and over
Hoping that you'll understand me one of these days.
Hoping that one day you will love me too

I was gifted a tape for this album in 1987. I played it so much it was stretched and no longer playable. Hearing this brings back so much memories when I stayed in Bataan, Philippines on the way to the USA. Amazing album. Thanks for the post.
