Lost & Found
LA HAVAS Lianne Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where my demons hide from you
Just look at who I have become
I am so ashamed you were the one that made me feel the way I do
You broke me
And taught me
To truly hate myself
And teach me
How to be like somebody else
When I felt strong enough
I was discovered by the love
I had been waiting for so long
You told me none of that was real
I cannot hide how low I feel
To know that you were never wrong
You broke me
And taught me
To truly hate myself
Unfold me
And teach me
How to be like somebody else
You're lost and found
Fallen out
Broken down
You broke me
And taught me
To truly hate myself
Unfold me
And teach me
How to be like somebody else
You broke me
And taught me
To truly hate myself
Unfold me
And teach me
To be like somebody else
In Lianne La Havas' song "Lost & Found," she sings about a broken relationship where the other person broke her down and made her feel ashamed of who she was. The first verse talks about how she has demons that she hides from the other person, and how she feels ashamed for letting them see the real her. The chorus talks about how the other person "broke" her, but also "taught" her how to hate herself. She pleads with them to "unfold" her, or help her become someone else entirely.
The second verse speaks about how she finally found love, but the other person tells her that it's not real. This causes her to feel even lower than before, knowing that the person who caused her so much pain was never wrong. The chorus repeats, with "lost and found," "fallen out," and "broken down" all painting a picture of a relationship that has caused immense damage to both parties.
Overall, the song is a powerful commentary on the destructive nature of toxic relationships. Lianne La Havas uses hauntingly beautiful lyrics and emotive vocals to convey the pain and desperation of someone trying to escape from a relationship where they have been made to feel like they're not good enough.

I was in a toxic relationship that broke me in 2016 and this song got me through the pain, 2022 now and I’m a single independent woman who’s healed from my past and giving back to my community living a life of purpose which I never though was possible at that time...

This woman is absolutely the one! She writes and sing with her soul, so young, beautiful and fresh. Every time I listen to this song I take away a new interpretation, that is the essence of what true art is all about. Bravo Lianne!
