Overall Meaning

LIL UZI VERT's track "Of Course" is an intense portrayal of the rapper's lifestyle and the various activities he indulges in that exhibit his wealth, power, and notoriety. He opens the track boasting about his ability to buy things that others can't afford as he raps about a watch that he had given away to his best friend and claimed that he is still covered in jewelry. UZI then moves on to brag about his power with guns and the amount of money he has, and how he has no fear in his heart. Everywhere he goes, he carries his Glock and a 30-round magazine to make himself feel safe. Other elements of his life include taking drugs, sleeping with different women, and associating with the negative people.

The latter half of "Of Course" UZI pays his tributes to his late friend Chico and raps about the times they spent together. UZI admits that he is still in shock regarding his friend being killed by an opposing gang member, and he is entirely unforgiving of the people who killed Chico. In the verses following, UZI boasts about his wealth and success, in contrast to the people who are envious. In his brazen style, UZI repeats the lyrics, "No, he didn't, yes, I did," as his way of reaffirming the message that everything he raps about, he does.

I remember listening to this song years ago believing it would be on Eternal Atake. One of Uzi’s best songs and I’m so glad it’s finally officially released
