The band officially consists of five members (David, Virginia, Oscar, Clara and Sergio) who appear in the band's distinctive "retro" music videos, though notably do not perform live, instead, Guille Milkyway sings and plays the songs solo at concerts. This, along with inconsistencies between instruments featured in the videos and those audible on the songs, has led many to believe that Guille Milkyway is in fact the sole performer on the records and uses the band "members" (who do not give interviews and whose last names have never been disclosed) in order to project an image.

The lyrics to La casa azul's song, "Preferimos Soñar" (We Prefer to Dream), speak to the importance of holding onto our dreams even when it feels like circumstances are against us. The song recognizes the disappointment and discouragement that can come with setbacks and rejections, but also asserts that the critics and naysayers do not have the final say over our potential or worth. The line "Aunque últimamente parezca que todos los sueños se acaben" ("Even though lately it seems like all our dreams are ending") suggests that the singer and/or listener may be feeling defeated or disillusioned, but the following lines emphasize that this is not the end. The phrase "no nos van a parar" ("they won't stop us") is repeated, emphasizing the song's central message of perseverance in the face of disappointment.
The song also touches on the idea of authenticity and honesty in creating art. The line "Aunque vendan todo su amor por una ridícula crítica pop" ("Even though they sell all their love for a ridiculous pop critique") seems to critique the music industry's tendency to prioritize commercial success over artistic expression. This is contrasted with the idea of "palabras sin doble sentido" ("words without double meaning"), suggesting that La casa azul values music that is straightforward and sincere. The song's ultimate assertion that they will continue to dream rather than getting bogged down by critiques or industry pressures underscores this commitment to authenticity and persistence.
Overall, "Preferimos Soñar" is a song that encourages listeners to keep dreaming and pursuing their passions in the face of challenges. The song acknowledges the reality of setbacks and criticisms but ultimately asserts that we have the power to continue moving forward and creating meaningful work.
