Their style combines elements of post-hardcore and screamo in a very experimental way to something that can hardly be put into a single genre. Their first LP,Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair, was released on November 11, 2008. The album was recorded at Studiotte in Grand Rapids by Joel and Troy Otte. In late 2011 they released their second LP called Wildlife which has also been added as an accompaniment to the #224 issue of the german "Visions" music magazine.
Nobody Not Even the Rain
La Dispute Lyrics

I know that someday you'll be sleeping, Darling, likely dreaming off the pain.
I hope you'll hear me in the streetlight's humming, softly breathing out your name.
I know that even with the seams stitched tightly, darling scars will remain.
I say we scrape them from each other, darling, and let them wash off in the rain.
And when they run into the river, oh no, let the water not complain.
I swear that even with the distance, slowly wearing at your name,
Your hands still catch the light the right way and
The lyrics to La Dispute's "Nobody Not Even the Rain" speak to the enduring power of love and the way that it can persist even in the face of distance, hurt, and time. The song is a plea to a loved one who is suffering, to let go of their pain and to believe in the enduring power of the singer's love for them.
The opening lines of the song acknowledge the inevitability of pain and suffering in life: "I know that someday you'll be sleeping, Darling, likely dreaming off the pain." The singer then expresses the hope that their loved one will be able to hear them calling out to them in their dreams, asking for them to hold on to hope and to remember the love that they share. The image of the streetlight's humming is a powerful one, evoking a sense of warmth and light in an otherwise dark and lonely world.
The central refrain of the song speaks to the importance of connection and shared experience, even in the face of pain and hurt: "I say we scrape them from each other, darling, and let them wash off in the rain. And when they run into the river, oh no, let the water not complain." The singer is suggesting that the way to heal from our scars is not to ignore them or to try to hide them, but to share them with others and to let them be washed away by the rain. The final lines of the song are a reaffirmation of the power of love and the way that it is able to endure and to transcend all of life's struggles.

While I love the song whole heartedly, sometimes I hear it when I’m in a different mood and it sounds whiny. So I can get why some people are just like nope without giving it a fair chance
