The band was formed in Lima by several members of the very well known (locally) clown troupé called "Pataclaun" including Jorge "Pelo Madueño" , Gonzalo Torres and Johanna San Miguel.
Their first public performance was on October 31st, 1991 in "Centro Cultural Parra del Riego" (Barranco, Lima) along with established local musician Miki Gonzales.
In 1994 the band released their first album "Al derecho y al revés" including "Aldina" which had brief rotation on MTV Latino. Two years later "Por tierra" ("By land") under the label "Discos Independientes", including the original version of their first - though minor - hit "La Peor de las Guerras" ("The worst of all wars"). Local success ensued and the band was signed by SONY MUSIC in 1998. With SONY they released "Mundo Cachina" which had wide rotation in Peruvian media helped by the video clips for "Mala Sangre" and "No es amor"
In 1999 the band was invited to Sony International's A&R Convention where bands like La Oreja de Van Gogh and Creed (band), also played.
After heavy touring the band went into hiatus in 2000, however in 2007 founding member "Pelo" Madueño announced the band would be playing together again.

Jamas fui un cristiano no
Siempre fui raza inferior.
Siempre fui raza inferior.
A quien venderme
A que imagen
Que corazones (..razones)
Que mentira ...tira
A quien venderme, que bestia adorar.
A que imagen santa atacar
Que corazones destrozare.
The lyrics to La Liga del Sueño's song Mala Sangre delve into themes of identity, power, religion, and oppression. The singer adamantly declares that they were never from this town, nor were they ever a Christian. They have always been a member of an inferior race, constantly struggling to find their place in society. The lines "A kien venderme, que bestia adorar. A q imagen santa atacar, que corazones destrozare" express their inner turmoil about which group they should sell themselves to, or what entity they should worship. They wonder which holy image they should attack or which hearts they should break. They question what lies they need to uphold and whose blood they have to walk upon.
As the song progresses, the singer expresses a sense of hopelessness and a loss of self-identity. The lines "Ahora maldito estoy, sere ocioso y brutal, no soy ni fui un prisionero de mi razon" convey that they are now cursed and have become idle and aggressive. They feel like they have lost control of their mind and actions. They express a yearning for peace in the line "si dios me concediera la calma celestial" but dismiss it as an unattainable desire. The final lines "La vida una farsa, Mi inocencia podria hacerme llorar" express that life is just a facade, and the singer's inner purity could make them weep.
