Por Probar el Vino y el Agua Salada
La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Satanás volver a bien castigarnos

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Por Probar el Vino y el Agua Salada" by La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros tell a story of a woman named Julia who dances with trash cans and the sea. She is possibly promised to the king of the mad, but will leave at dawn with the new sun on her nose. The people are suffering from a lack of basic necessities such as bread and salt, and the girls have given themselves to evil. Satan is punishing the people for doubting the king of this place but they have chosen to forget about being a king and be happy by trying wine and saltwater. The chorus repeats this sentiment of forgetting about being a king and being happy.

The second half of the song brings more serious themes to the forefront. It questions why someone can laugh so beautifully when they have forced the singer's mind and killed his people. It seems as though there is a betrayal and a deep sadness that permeates the singer's psyche. The song ends by repeating the chorus, emphasizing the idea of forgetting about being a king and being happy with the simple things in life.
