In 1993, the group released its debut album, called Mbugi, followed by 1995's Bagayo and 1996's Classic. La Mississippi starting getting closer to contemporary blues while recording Cara y Ceca in 1997. Two years later, the six-piece act had the opportunity to perform in front of a major audience, when they opened for Credence Clearwater Revisited at Buenos Aires' Obras Sanitarias. They later issued Palacio de Pulgas.
