He contributed extensively to the study of just intonation and to the development of rational number based tuning systems that are used in his periodic composite sound waveform environments, as well as in many of his major performance works. Presentations of Young's work in the United States and Europe, as well as his theoretical writings, gradually influenced a group of composers to create a static, periodic music which became known as Minimalism. Musician magazine stated, "As the acknowledged father of minimalism and guru emeritus to the British art-rock school, his influence is pervasive," and in 1985 the Los Angeles Herald Examiner wrote, " for the past quarter of a century he has been the most influential composer in America. Maybe in the world." In Minimalism:Origins, 1993, Edward Strickland added, “Young is now widely recognized as the originator of the most influential classical music style of the final third of the twentieth century.”

It's like tuvan throat singing, the Mongolian and tebetian vocal technique used by the Gyoto Tantric monks of tenet, whereby the fundamental, or tonic, is very deep, but resonance I'm the form of overtones form in the throat... These overtones tend to be very high pitch, out of the range of normal human voices. Consider the as "whistle pitch", because the only a human (without any instrument can produce them is to whistle. I saw, and heard, years ago ( believe it was 86) the Gyoto Tantric monks, at the Cathedral of. St. John the Divine, in New York City, a couple of blocks from Columbia University... It's the only truly Gothic cathedral in all of the United States... The accoustic are phenomenal, in the cavernous stone building, and the resonance of the chanting can be felt in the body. At the time, I was doing a methadone detox from heroin, and though I'm no kind of idiot, by any means, at a bad , broken hearted time in my life I made the unwise decision to consciously keep doing heroin, even knowing the conveniences of my actions would certainly be addiction. I was on day 20 of a 21 day detox, and had the next(and last)dose at home Being bathed in the resonance of the chanting, such as I was, I heard an internal voice from a higher source say to me, you, as part of the creative force in the universe, are entirely self contained and self sufficient... You are dependant on nothing! " And when I got home, I poured the dose down the sink. Theres probably no reason whybI shouldnt have been able to do that, but I've heard stories, legends, about being in the presence of these highly concious Yebetian monks, can a transformative effect or influence over body, mind and spirit... Perhaps this music, as well from a highly concious and spiritual being, could have the same effect on people!...

I've also been long aware that many of the intelligencia, the leading artists, creatives, we say now have been drawn to heroin and the opiates because of the enhanced creativity they feel it bringsbto the table the stress reliee it provide , and the ability to perform inspired long bouts of creative work over extended periods of time... This was why I reterned to it some years later, when I had a home studo at my fisposal, and worked on my music into the wee hours of the morning regularly, like a job, albeit a very pleasant one! That said, I recommend it to no one, because the risks outweigh the benefits exponentially... Another thing about the Cathedral as it's having been built using only Midieval materials and technology, it's still under construction, though it is, and has been operational for some time.

I usually don't mispell these mistakes are all just missed, uncorrected typos, resulting from being in a hurry, I guess... I also didn't have auto correct for part of the time I was composing this...
