In mid-2005 we signed our first record deal with Dangerbird Records, situated in the heart of happening Silverlake. Chrysalis Publishing USA became our close friends this year too, so it is only right that we should pack our duffle bags and set up camp in the USA. We've just recorded an album with Mr. Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Supergrass, Belle & Sebastian) and can't wait to be travelling the world playing it to people this year. We look forward to giving you something original and inspiring when we meet.
This Life
La Rocca Lyrics

Things so everlasting take you far
Try and get away, a reason to give up to you
A love I never understood
And now, two years later
I'm reading of your wedding in my morning paper
The future's getting brighter
And it's the same for you and it's the same for me
But I'm not here alone now and I think you'd agree
That if we'd met later, I'd never have seen this life
Bad enough that I'm still here
Lying through my teeth so loud and clear
Have to get away, I'm walking streets excited, man
Lying awake and dreaming plans
And now, two years later
I'm reading some reviews in my music paper
The future's getting brighter
I wonder when the days will turn from darker to lighter
And it's the same for you and it's the same for me
But I'm not here alone now and I think you'd agree
That if we'd met later, I'd never have seen this life
Make a friend of who you are
Things so everlasting take you far
The future's getting brighter
I wonder when the days will turn from darker to lighter
And it's the same for you and it's the same for me
But I'm not here alone now and I think you'd agree
That if we'd met later, I'd never have seen this life
Well, it's the same for you and it's the same for me
But I'm not here alone now and I think you'd agree
That if we'd met later, I'd never have seen this life
The lyrics to La Rocca's song "This Life" convey the importance of self-acceptance and perseverance, as well as the significance of timing and circumstance in shaping the course of one's life. The opening lines encourage the listener to embrace their own identity and values, recognizing that staying true to oneself is the key to achieving meaningful success in life. The phrase "things so everlasting take you far" suggests that focusing on what truly matters in life (such as relationships, personal growth, and meaningful experiences) can lead to greater fulfillment in the long run.
The verses then shift towards contemplation, as the singer reflects on missed opportunities and choices they wish they could change. The mention of a former love, now married to someone else, suggests a sense of regret and longing for what could have been. However, the chorus reminds us that life is unpredictable and that everything happens for a reason - even if we don't always understand why. The refrain "And it's the same for you and it's the same for me / But I'm not here alone now and I think you'd agree / That if we'd met later, I'd never have seen this life" acknowledges the role that timing and coincidence play in shaping our lives, and how different paths can lead to different outcomes.
Overall, "This Life" is a reflective, introspective song that encourages listeners to embrace their own identity, persevere through challenges, and recognize the value of timing and circumstance in shaping our lives.

Towson University, outside Baltimore, just played this on their local radio station WTMD. It's catchy and stuck with me--thanks for the post, dangerbirdrecords. It's fun when a song on the car radio strikes that chord in us.
