In 1997 the band released its first eponymous album, which was very successful and earned them lots of radio and TV air play and album sales. In 1999 they recorded "Kaleidoscopio", selling over 5,000 copies. Then the band took a hiatus due to the departure of Michel Maluje to Mexico, where he played with Julieta Venegas. In 2005 the band (now including Rodrigo Velasco) returned to the studio to record "Distinto". After that release, the band decided to go their separate ways. None of the two last albums had been as successful as the first one and their hype began to die out.
Francisco Valenzuela released a solo album named "Sirenas" in 2009 and from 2017 onwards he continued to play some gigs under the name "La Rue Morgue" with some of his students in Escuela Moderna de Música, a private music institute in Chile in which he worked as a teacher. On july 7th, 2022, Valenzuela was admitted into the ICU after suffering a stroke. Seven days later, on july 14th, his death was confirmed.

The lyrics of La Rue Morgue's song Todo Se Va (Everything Goes) speaks about the impermanence of life, the passing of time and the melancholic feeling of facing change. The opening lines "Pelo rojo, blanco y negro todos saben donde vas" (Red, white, and black hair, everyone knows where you are going) symbolize the inevitability of people moving on to new paths and new phases in life, leaving behind their old selves and the memories they have created. The final verse "Pero hay algo que no entiendo, si en verdad te hice mal. Siento frío en mis huesos, siento que todo se va" (But there is something I don't understand, if I truly did wrong by you. I feel cold in my bones, I feel that everything is going) suggests that the singer may have caused the changes that they are now experiencing, and that they are unsure of how to make amends for it. The overall theme of the song is one of acceptance and embracing change, even though it may be difficult and painful to do so.
