Nuestra Señora La Reina De Los Angeles
La Santa Cecilia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning | Line by Line Meaning
The lyrics of La Santa Cecilia's song Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ángeles describe the city of Los Angeles as the sun sets in the sky. The colors of the sky, including yellow, blue, and purple, are referenced. The surroundings are depicted as melting, with palm trees appearing to melt into each other. The lyrics also talk about a dream awakening while another fades away on the asphalt. The singer notes that many people come to Los Angeles in search of a promise, which may or may not be kept. The arrival of the dreamer is celebrated and the singer conveys that the Queen, referring to Los Angeles, gives everything and takes it away just as quickly.
The promise that many come to Los Angeles seeking could refer to the American Dream, as Los Angeles is often seen as a symbol of opportunity and success. The Queen of Los Angeles is portrayed as generous yet fickle, which can be seen as a metaphor for the unpredictable and unforgiving nature of the city. The lyrics also touch on the struggle of those who are left behind in the city's alleys, where nothing shines.
Overall, the song paints a vivid picture of Los Angeles; the city of dreams, opportunities, and broken promises. It is a song about the complexity of the city and the many different experiences people can have here.
