The band consists of guitarist Gloria Estrada, accordionist and requintero Jose Carlos, bassist Alex Bendana, percussionist Miguel Ramirez, drummer Hugo Vargas and lead vocalist Marisoul, whose captivating voice sings about love, loss and heartbreak. Their influences range from Miles Davis to The Beatles, Zeppelin to Janis Joplin and Mercedes Sosa to Ramon Ayala. Ther common love of music and openness to all genres led them to the concept of La Santa Cecilia in 2007 – named after the patron saint of musicians.
La Santa Cecilia’s self-titled EP was recorded at Lo-Fi Studios in San Bernardino and the legendary Westlake Recording Studios in Hollywood. Their song “Chicle” was featured on the Emmy award-winning series Weeds, the independent feature Dish, and the documentary Re-Encounters about Oaxacan artist Alejandro Santiago. Their musician also be heard on KPFK's radio programs '4 O'clock Tuesday' with Gustavo Arellano and ' Travel Tips For Aztlan' with Mark Torres. The band made an on-camera appearance on HBO's Emmy award-winning hit show Entourage; the episode also featured the songs "Chicle" and "El Farol". The band also held a two- week residence for the L.A. Philharmonic- sponsored children's show Summer Sounds, where they performed their songs and acted so as to educate the community of Los Angeles on their very own cultural treasures.
The band's music has been used in television and movies, such as on the “Weeds” television program and TV series "The Bridge" (1-8).

Felicito de todo corazon a la "SANTA CECILIA" por esta hermosa interpretacion de "NUESTRO JURAMENTO' . Este gran clasico fue escrito por mi padre Don BENITO DE JESUS, compositor puertoriiqueno, fallecido el 24 de Junio del 2010 en su natal Isla de Puerto Rico. De todas sus canciones, es "Nuestro Juramento" la de mayor impacto a nivel internacional, contando con alrededor de 300 versiones alrededor del mundo, siendo la version del gran JULIO JARAMILLO la mas aplaudida y escuchada. "Nuestro Juramento" fue dedicada al gran AMOR de su vida, mi madre GLORIA, tambien fallecida en el 2001. Mi padre siempre vivio agradecido de nuestro hermano pais el ECUADOR, por el respaldo y su gran carino por este tema, que con todo derecho los "ecuatorianos" lo hicieron suyo!!.

Me encanta esta canción, mi tío QEPD me pidió que la ponga en el velorio de mi tía QEPD, se amaban tanto desde chamacos, creímos que se nos iría muy rápido pero pasó casi un año, cuando se puso mal y a mis primas le dijeron que él estaba sufriendo pero no se iba por ellas, fue hasta que una de ellas le dijo que si él quería irse con mi tía ellas iban a estar bien, cuando partió de este mundo, obvio fue doloroso pero todos teníamos ese pensamiento de "ya están juntos de nuevo, deben de estar felices" ellos fueron mis padrinos de lazo en mi boda, creo que fue una excelente elección y espero que mi marido y yo también nos amemos más allá de esta vida.
