La Santa Cecilia’s self-titled EP was recorded at Lo-Fi Studios in San Bernardino and the legendary Westlake Recording Studios in Hollywood. Their song “Chicle” was featured on the Emmy award-winning series Weeds, the independent feature Dish, and the documentary Re-Encounters about Oaxacan artist Alejandro Santiago. Their musician also be heard on KPFK's radio programs '4 O'clock Tuesday' with Gustavo Arellano and ' Travel Tips For Aztlan' with Mark Torres. The band made an on-camera appearance on HBO's Emmy award-winning hit show Entourage; the episode also featured the songs "Chicle" and "El Farol". The band also held a two- week residence for the L.A. Philharmonic- sponsored children's show Summer Sounds, where they performed their songs and acted so as to educate the community of Los Angeles on their very own cultural treasures.
The band's music has been used in television and movies, such as on the “Weeds” television program and TV series "The Bridge" (1-8).

Y de ilusiones
Y te ofrezcan un sol
Y un cielo entero
Si te acuerdas de mí
No me menciones
Porque vas a sentir
Y si quieren saber
De tu pasado
Es preciso decir
Una mentira
Di que vienes de allá
De un mundo raro
Que no sabes llorar
Que no entiendes de amor
Y que nunca has amado
Me volvió desgraciado
Y que nunca he llorado
Me volvió desgraciado
Y que nunca he llorado
Y que nunca he llorado
The lyrics to La Santa Cecilia's song "Un Mundo Raro" is a testimony of a brokenhearted lover who when asked about love and happy endings will refrain from talking about it to avoid reliving the pain caused by a past lover. The lyrics suggest that to be able to break free from the pain caused by the past lover, one needs to create a new reality free from the hurtful memories. The singer advises not to mention their name because it could trigger emotions that can lead to a cycle of repeating past mistakes. The singer advises to create a façade, to pretend that you come from a world that is different, a world where pain and love does not exist.
Despite the heartbreaking lyrics, the chorus of the song creates a hopeful image which suggests that the singer finds a way to move on from the past lover. The chorus states that the singer will speak positively about the former lover, as if they were a dream come true, and no longer hold any grudges towards them. They will let go of the anger and the hurt and make peace with themselves, creating a new narrative of their own love story.
Overall, "Un Mundo Raro" describes the internal struggle of letting go of the past, the choice to create a new reality, and the ability to forgive and forget.
