Pitaste
La Sonora Dinamita Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

¿Pitaste?
¿Pero pitaste?
¿Que si pitaste?

Se casó una parejita
Ambos muy ricos de cuna
Y vivían muy felices
Con lujo, pompa y alcurnia

Un día el padre de la joven
Quiso visitar su hija
Sólo quería comprobar
Como vivía su niña

La muchacha muy contenta
Le mostró al padre su casa
El comedor, la piscina
El jardín y la terraza

Papi este es el cuarto mío
Mira que lindo y que fresco
Al lado el de mi marido
Y aquel pa' tus nietos

¡El padre se sorprendió!
Y le preguntó extrañado
¿Como van a tener hijos?
Si duermen tan separados

Ella dijo no hay problema
Por lo que me preguntaste
Cuando él desea me pita
O yo pregunto, ¿pitaste?

Pistaste, pitaste, Pistaste, pitaste
Pistaste, pitaste, Pistaste, pitaste

Néstor mi amigo cubano
Siempre toma chocolate
Por si acaso le preguntan:
Oye mi chico, ¿pitaste?

A gozar con la Sonora Dinamita

Gilbertico siempre cena
Ensalada de tomate
Por si su mujer pregunta:
Bendito nene, ¿pitaste?

Jairo el colombiano cena
Patacón con aguacate

Por si su mujer pregunta
Oye pelao, ¿pitaste?

Overall Meaning

The song Pitaste by La Sonora Dinamita talks about the hilarious situation that arises between a newly married couple and the father of the bride. The couple is rich and living a luxurious life, and when the father of the young woman visits them, she shows him around the house. She proudly shows the father every nook and corner of the house, including the bedrooms. She tells her dad that this is her room, that's her husband's room, and that one is for their future children. But, the father is surprised to see that the couple's bedroom is quite far away from the future children's room. So, he asks the daughter how they are going to have children if they sleep so far away from each other. The daughter coolly replies that they have a unique system of communication, wherein her husband just needs to whistle, and she would come to him. The father finds it funny and asks, "Pitaste?" ("Did you whistle?").

In the second verse of the song, the singer introduces some of his friends with comical situations related to their partners and the infamous question - "Pitaste?" Néstor, the singer's Cuban friend, always has a cup of hot chocolate with him in case his girlfriend asks him the question. Gilbertico eats salad every night as a precaution, and Jairo, the Colombian, has a specific meal of fried plantain and avocado, so he can answer the question honestly. The song aims to make people laugh by encouraging them to take a light-hearted approach to relationships.
