The lyrics of the song El Tacho by La Tabaré bring forth themes of hopelessness, self-doubt and the monotony of life. The opening lines "Estoy golpeado como aquel boxeador / Que esta knock out en la lona" set the tone for the rest of the song as the singer seems to have given up on life. He is tired of waiting for something that might never come and the idea of making a living bores him. Although he claims that he is not too sad, he cannot find anything to be joyful about. His metaphorical comparison of himself to "el tacho de la basura" (the trash can) and someone who is "enredado en sus propias redes" (entangled in his own struggles) reiterates his sense of failure and lack of control over his life.
