I'm Tired
Labrinth & Zendaya Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey Lord, You know I'm tired
Hey Lord, You know I'm tired
Hey Lord, You know I'm tired of tears
Hey Lord, just cut me loose

Hey Lord, You know I'm fighting
Hey Lord, You know I'm fighting
I'm sure this world is done with me
Hey Lord, You know it's true

Now the tide is rolling in
I don't wanna win
Let it take me, let it take me
I'll be on my way
How long can I stay?
In a place that can't contain me

Hey Lord, You know I'm tired
Hey Lord, You know I'm tired

Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

Hey Lord, You know I'm trying
Hey Lord, You know I'm trying
It's all I got, is this enough?
Hey Lord, I wanna stay
Hey Lord, You know I'm fighting
Hey Lord, You know I'll find it

I don't know when or how today
Hey Lord, I'm on my way

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "I'm Tired" by Labrinth and Zendaya express a sense of exhaustion, struggle, and the desire for release. The repeated address to "Hey Lord" suggests a prayerful tone, perhaps speaking to a higher power for aid or guidance. The first verse begins with an admission of weariness and a plea for relief from tears, giving the impression of a heavy emotional burden that has become overwhelming. The second verse shifts to a more proactive tone, noting that the singer is fighting, but also acknowledging a sense of futility or hopelessness in the face of a world that seems to reject them.

The chorus doubles down on the idea of release, with the singer envisioning themselves being carried away by the tide and expressing a desire to leave a place that cannot contain them. The bridge continues this theme of struggle and persistence, with the singer questioning whether their efforts are enough and asking to be allowed to continue on their journey. Overall, the lyrics paint a picture of someone who feels at odds with the world and themselves, struggling to find a sense of purpose or happiness.

Yes.🙌

@yolandawilson9852

Yup, you just want the pain to go away. There's an old movie from the 40s or 50s called 'I wanna Live'. The movie is based on real life events about a woman that was executed for murder which most people believe she didn't do. Her friends kinda hung her out to dry. Anyway, that line is famous from this movie. I don't want to die, I don't want to live, I just want the pain to go away.

Labrith can convey so much emotion in his voice. And Zendaya sang the last part so delicately. Absolutely beautiful
