Lacey loves Jack and Arrow. Jack is three and Arrow is one, but both boys already have Mommy’s passion. Lacey is Josh’s wife and loves being a wife. Their love looks like Play-Doh—it’s colorful, makes beautiful things, and expands the more it’s tinkered with.“Lacey stands at four feet eleven inches. But she possesses a voice five times that size. Its unmistakable passion, power, beauty, and grit make her impossible to ignore on the airwaves.

Lacey continues to do work with the BGEA as well as the Whosoever Movement, an organization she helped found with some of her closest friends from the rock music and extreme sports industries. The Whosoever Movement seeks to build and strengthen at-risk youth in local communities by using their collective passion for music, skateboarding, art, and today’s youth culture to creatively inspire people to stand together and work for change.

In 2000, Sturm began to play with drummer James Culpepper. The pair worked with guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann. In 2002, Pat Seals, Flyleaf's current bassist, joined, forming a group named Passerby. Due to legal reasons, they renamed themselves Flyleaf in June 2004.

On October 22, 2012, shortly before the release of New Horizons, Sturm revealed that she had amicably left Flyleaf. The album was nominated for the 2012 Rock Album of the Year Dove Award.

In an interview promoting her book The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living, Sturm explained that a primary reason for her leaving the band was the death of the band's sound engineer. The band performed one last show as a means to help the sound engineer's wife and child. This experience caused Sturm to consider her own son and wonder what she would do if she knew she had only one more year with him. "It was really amazing to recognize this season changing in my life and the freedom that I was gonna be able to focus on my family," Sturm said. "And although it was really hard, I'm thankful. And that's the reason I stepped down from Flyleaf."

On November 7, 2022, it was announced by Flyleaf that Sturm had returned to the band, with the band now calling themselves "Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm".

In the song "Impossible" by Lacey Sturm, she sings about defying the odds and living what seems to be an impossible life. Ive been listening to Flyleaf since I was 13. I'm 30 now. I didn't know Lacey struck out on her own. I'm sitting at work sobbing. This song means the world to me. Her music in Flyleaf changed my life, and she's changing my life even now. There's been no other person in this world that has touched my heart and soul like Lacey has, and she has inspired me to be a better, happier person. Lacey is my hero and it's impossible to describe how her new music makes me feel so content, but it does and I'm immensely glad she's continuing the musical path. My faith in music has been restored. This is a very old comment, but worth the reply. I was drawn to Christ through Lacey's music. Imagine that the contentment you receive from her music is just a glimmer of what you will receive directly from God through faith in Jesus Christ. Her and several other of my favorite artists were just good and I didn't know why. Then I noticed some of my peers were just good and I didn't know why. The hints are there, the good shines like a beacon in this wicked world. Make the connection, what makes her music make you feel that way is that it is direct praise of God. You are open to it and can feel it. That is God calling to you through his tools on this earth. Listen to her life story, she was literally pulled from hell on earth by his calling, and today she shares that message with you.

And I'm happy to acknowledge God in it! I'm trying to get into the habit of doing it more often. Sometimes I think it, but don't say it, because I feel nervous (society being as it is, lol). I'm trying to be more open about it when it comes up. God is so amazing!

I'm soooo excited for this!! I love it and it means so much to me. This song makes me think of how my daughter and I were so close to death during child birth. My blood pressure sky rocketed and they had to take her out extremely early. She was born 1 lb 9oz ..she's a healthy 9 year old with no problems and my bp is under control now. But I am so thankful for life and living the impossible!!! I found God again because of it.

I was a fan of flyleaf and yes it's not the same because she's not in the band anymore. But she is back and amazing as ever. In flyleaf or not I'm a fan of her talent. Beautiful music and amazing voices. Glad she took her break and coming back. I can't wait to hear the full cd.

I cried when you I heard you left, and especially when I found out who replaced you. Kristen... she has a nice voice, but she isn't you. I understand why you left, and now that that chapter is closed you can begin a new chapter in your life :) I'm excited to see what God had in store for you
