But I knew that you wasn't go ride or die I see it in your face.
I seen that you would just go hang and tag along for the wealth.
But I peep game and I treat you just as you treat yourself
See we was tight best friends we had a bond like we kin.
Ignored when mama first met you she spoke on evil within
I'm at your peoples and they too friendly they all Let me In.
But I remember that day in prison said never again
I had a daughter I can't wait to beautiful walk this earth.
You see my up's I know your down's so what's the drought in the ounce.
All I asked for was loyalty can't display so just bounce.
The lyrics of Lado.B's song "Bonnie & Clyde" reflect on the complexities and challenges of a relationship that was once strong, but ultimately reveals the lack of true loyalty and commitment from one partner. The distance in the relationship becomes a metaphor for how it can reveal the true level of faith between two people. The singer acknowledges that they had doubts about their partner's willingness to stick by their side and be there through thick and thin, and they could see it in their partner's face. This realization leads the singer to recognize that their partner was only in it for material gain, simply tagging along for the wealth.
The lyrics also hint at a deeper betrayal, as the singer recounts a day when their partner met their mother and the mother sensed something evil within the partner. This encounter, along with other instances where the partner's friends were too friendly, made the singer wary of their intentions. It is also mentioned that the singer had been in prison, and their partner had seen their son, but the singer refuses to ignore the negative aspects and potential consequences of the relationship. They express a desire to break the cycle and not repeat the same mistakes, especially with the prospect of having a daughter and wanting her to have a better life.
In the end, the singer acknowledges that they have observed their partner's ups and downs and expected some support and loyalty in return. However, since the partner fails to show true loyalty, the singer decides it's better for them to separate and move on.
