ARTPOP
Lady Gaga Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Come to me, in all your glamour and cruelty
Just do that thing that you do
And I'll undress you
Give it time, sometimes the simplest move is right
The melody that you choose, can rescue you

A hybrid can withstand these things
My heart can beat with bricks and strings
My ARTPOP could mean anything

We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)

Come to me, with all your subtext and fantasy
Just do that thing that you do
In a perverse hue
Lover's kites, are flown on beaches for public sight
The color palette you choose, can profit you

A hybrid can withstand these things
My heart can beat with bricks and strings
My ARTPOP could mean anything

Could try to sell you out or I
Could show you all the reasons why
My ARTPOP could mean anything

We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)

Brushes with darkness won't help you create
Your destiny of self but ARTPOP could mean anything, anything
I try to sell myself but I am really laughing
Because I just love the music, not the bling
Music, not the bling

We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)

We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)

Free my mind, ARTPOP
You make my, heart stop

Overall Meaning

In this song, Lady Gaga seems to be inviting someone - perhaps a lover or a friend - to come to her with all their glamour and cruelty, their subtext and fantasy. She encourages them to do that thing that they do, promising to undress them when they do. She then muses on the power of music, how a simple melody can rescue you, and the importance of the color palette you choose to profit you. She repeats the idea that her ARTPOP could mean anything, and that she could try to sell out or show all the reasons why, but in the end, it's the music she loves, not the bling. The song then ends with a repetition of the chorus, where Gaga and this person could belong together in the world of ARTPOP.

The lyrics of this song seem to celebrate the transformative power of the arts, as well as the beauty of taking risks and trying something new. Gaga seems to be saying that when you create art, you can be anything and everything at the same time, and that art has the power to bring people together. The phrase ARTPOP seems to refer to both the title of the album and the world that Gaga has created, where pop art is celebrated in all its forms. It also hints at the idea that pop music can be just as powerful and meaningful as fine art or other forms of expression.

I can’t believe the world let ARTPOP flop. This is perfection

Nenhuma ART é reconhecida no seu tempo,só depois

@heyflop

ARTPOP didn’t flop

@ajgerbi

ARTPOP only flopped by Gaga’s standards, it was still a very successful album. Also some works of art aren’t appreciated when they’re first released, but are later in its lifetime. I think ARTPOP is a good example of this.
