Don't Give Up
Lady Gaga Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In
this proud land we grew up strong We
were wanted all along I
was taught to fight taught, to win I
never thought I could fail No

fight left or so it seems I
am a man whose dreams have all deserted I've
changed my face I've, changed my name But
no one wants you when you lose Don't

give up 'Cos
you have fans Don't
give up You're
not beaten yet Don't
give up I
know you can make it good Though

I saw it all around Never
thought I could be affected Thought
that we'd be the last to go It
is so strange the way things turn Drove

the night toward my home The
place that I was born on, the lakeside As
daylight broke I, saw the earth The
trees had burned down to the ground Don't

give up You
still have us Don't
give up We
don't need much of anything Don't
give up 'Cause
somewhere there's a place Where
we belong Rest

your head You
worry too much It's
going to be alright When
times get rough You
can fall back on us Don't
give up Please
don't give up 'Got

to walk out of here I
can't take anymore Going
to stand on that bridge Keep
my eyes down below Whatever
may come And
whatever may go That
river's flowing That
river's flowing Moved

on to another town Tried
hard to settle down For
every job so, many men So
many men no-one needs Don't

give up 'Cause
you have fans Don't
give up You're
not the only one Don't
give up You
still have us Don't
give up now We're
proud of who you are Don't
give up 'Cause

I believe there's the a place There's
a place where we belong

Overall Meaning

In Lady Gaga's song Don't Give Up, she speaks to her listeners about perseverance despite the odds. She starts the song with an upbeat rhythm and lyrics that express how she, like many of us, was taught to fight and never thought she could fail. As she continues to sing, however, she abruptly changes the mood and sings about how she lost her dreams and identity, and how nobody wants you when you lose. Gaga zooms out and describes how the world around us can change so quickly that we may no longer recognize it. She then returns to encourage her listeners to not give up, reminding them that they have fans who believe in them and that there's a place where they belong.

The lyrics of Don't Give Up are powerful and aim to uplift those who feel lost or defeated. Lady Gaga's use of the second person throughout the song makes it feel as though she is speaking directly to her listeners, imploring them to keep going despite the challenges they may face. She sings not only about her own experiences but also about the world around us, making the song a message of hope for everyone.

Overall, Lady Gaga's Don't Give Up is a powerful anthem that encourages her listeners to keep fighting and not give up. In a world where things can change in a moment, it's important to remember that we still have support and a place where we belong.

How on earth was this song never released!?!?!? It is perfect. Their voices, chemistry, the emotion they put into it😭It is beautiful and powerful. Wish more people saw this.

@GETINLOSER

It was, just a cover

@starch3229

@GET IN LOSER they are talking about this version

@Joamori1054

@GET IN LOSER maybe that could be the reason, they didn't allowed them to release it

@bakethisway

Listen to "The greatest thing" by Gaga and Cher, it's another waste. Gaga really needs to stop making great music if she never release it

@sammor660

The way baby gagas voice was so powerful in 2007 and now even in 2022 over a decade later her voice is still if not more powerful

@dexterstockman2640

Gag died after 2011
Fame Era - most powerfull in music that world has.
Very close to Madonna.
Bit not)

@gabrielsanabriaibieta3922

Sounds like an updated version of the original, it's beautiful. As much as I love those 80s synths, this is also pretty

@THEphoenixARIEL

@roizeldiez3500

What people don’t know is that the voice has been there from the very start. She had to suppress it for industry’s standards. She had to “die to be born.”
