“When I was young, I prayed for lightning” followed up by “But there was nothing there” is extremely powerful to me, as a gay guy raised in a Muslim country I had zero hope for my future when I was a kid, I basically accepted that I would have to live in the closet for the rest of my life and never truly be myself in public. Thankfully that wasn’t the case and my life turned out to be even better than I could wish for, but listening to this song still made me cry for the child I was 15 years ago. are you sure its before there was love there was silence because when i look at the lyrics from google it says before there was up there was silence but in my personal opinion before there was love just sounds way better and since im planning to do a cover i woukd really appreciate to know what they're singing
