Angus Stone reveals a darker more contemplative side on the brooding rhythm and blues of his first solo album 'SMOKING GUN', out April 2009.
Angus wrote, sang and played electric and acoustic guitar on the album of which he co-produced with his accomplice βFinnβ (Govinda Doyle) on drums and bass. The album was recorded over 6 weeks throughout 2008 in an old water tank in the scorching hills of North QLD, Australia. Finnβs wife would cook supper for them and her new born baby whilst they worked till the young hours of dawn.
βIβve been skipping off in between tours for about a year now to shake my head of these songs,β explains Angus, "Every one of the emotions in your head has itβs own voice and this album is what became of them."
Smoking Gun sees Angus crawl into the alt music underground world, embracing a myriad of themes, emotions and genres that allowed Angus the freedom to take a simple idea for each song and let it take whatever trip it lead him on.
Home Sweet Home
Lady Of The Sunshine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You should try, try it on
What will be, is what we'll be
Just let it roll, like a rolling stone
All i see, is you in my dreams
Somewhere close, to my home
All i need, is you by me
She's home, she's home sweet home
She's home, she's home sweet home
She's home, she's home sweet home
She's home, she's home sweet home
How we be, is how we be
You should try, try it on
What will be, is what we'll be
Just let it roll, like a rolling stone
She's home, she's home sweet home
She's home, she's home sweet home
She's home, she's home sweet home
She's home, she's home sweet home
Home sweet home sweet home
The lyrics of "Home Sweet Home" by Lady of the Sunshine can be interpreted in a number of ways, but primarily there seem to be a few key themes: being present in the present moment, appreciating the people and places that bring happiness and comfort, and relinquishing control in order to truly enjoy life.
The first verse begins with a call-to-action: "How we be, is how we be / You should try, try it on." This suggests that the singer is advocating for the listener to embrace whatever state they may be in, and to try it on for size. This can be interpreted as an encouragement to live fully in the present moment, without worrying too much about one's circumstances. The phrase "What will be, is what we'll be / Just let it roll, like a rolling stone" reinforces this sentiment, indicating that the future is uncertain, and it's better to embrace whatever comes along instead of trying to control or predict it.
The second verse is more personal, with the singer expressing their desire to be near someone they love. "All I see, is you in my dreams / Somewhere close, to my home / All I need, is you by me / Lay me down, lay me down" suggests a romantic longing, with the singer desiring the presence of their loved one over anything else. This ties in with the idea of "home sweet home," with the notion that home is where the heart is, and that it's the people we share our lives with that truly make a place feel like home.
Overall, "Home Sweet Home" is a song about finding contentment in the present moment, embracing uncertainty, and cherishing the people and places that bring us happiness and a sense of belonging.

I went to a prison camp for 2 years. My first week there I bought a mp3 and started downloading music off their version of itunes. I had around a year left when I sampled this song then bought it.
At times I would lay in my top bunk at night when everyone was asleep and put this song on. There was a window that I could see from my bunk and there was an American flag out in the distant with a light post next to it lighting it. This song would remind myself that I was going home soon.
