Tomorrow
Ladytron Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

How's the water?
The blue pill's for you
Are they poisoning all that's left till you're alone in a dark room?
And all is forgiven
Water gone
I will comfort you, my blood

The clock is ticking
But a calm looms over your face like you are not alone
I am your scars, frozen and framed
For the good times

A photograph found
Bound by your secrets
Hidden deep with old memories
When you were young and beautiful (Beautiful and free)
Myth and fantasy and fantastic times
I never asked you all the damn things I wanted to

But tomorrow is another day
Tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day
Tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day
Tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day
Tomorrow is, tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day

Oh father
Watch him pray for you
Is he comforting distraction?
But there's a boy in the corner
And it is forbidden
You alone
Is this Earth, is this heaven?

The clock is ticking
But a calm looms over your face like you are not alone
I am your scars, frozen and framed
For the good times

A photograph found
Bound by your secrets
Hidden deep with old memories
When you were young and beautiful (Beautiful and free)
Myth and fantasy and fantastic times
I never asked you all the fucking things I wanted to
But tomorrow is another day

Tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day
Tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day

Tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day
Tomorrow is, tomorrow is, tomorrow is another day

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ladytron's song "Tomorrow" seem to be about the vulnerability of a person who is being taken advantage of by some unknown entity that's maybe poisoning them. The first verse describes the uncertainty, as seen in the lines "How's the water? / The blue pill's for you / Are they poisoning all that's left till you're alone in a dark room?" The singer appears to offer comfort and protection, as indicated in the line "I will comfort you, my blood."

In the second verse, a clock is ticking, and the person's scars are frozen and framed for the good times. A photograph is found, with secrets and memories hidden deep within, and the person is reminiscent of their past when they were young and beautiful. The chorus, which repeats the phrase "Tomorrow is another day," suggests that there may be hope for the future despite the pain and vulnerability of the present.

The final section of the song questions whether the world we live in is a place of both earth and heaven. The singer may be addressing a higher power, asking why they are not helping the person who is being hurt. The line "Is he comforting distraction?" seems to suggest that the person is not alone, but someone is not offering genuine help. The song ends with the repetition of the phrase "Tomorrow is another day," reinforcing the theme of hope and a new beginning.
