Loose Fix
Lakes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

These shadow sink through the dark
Echoes find a new voice sweet on their tongue
Words creepy under their skin change the form of a man into a ghost
Find what you need to fix what you can't see
I can hear the drugs in your voice

One by one, they find a reason for it
Oh, oh oh oh oh
One by one you they your fix set on it
Oh, oh oh oh oh

Minds, cocoons that have died
Tombs full of lies
Sweet on their tongue
Find what you need to fix what you can't see

One by one, they find a reason for it
Oh, oh oh oh oh
One by one, they get your fix set on it
Oh, oh oh oh oh

One by one, one by one, one by one,
One by one, they find a reason for it
Oh oh oh oh

One by one, they find a reason for it
Oh oh oh oh
One by one, they get your fix set on it

Oh oh oh oh
One by one

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Loose Fix" by Lakes speak to the dark and dangerous nature of addiction. The opening lines reference shadows sinking through the dark, setting a tone of heaviness and foreboding. The echoes that follow seem to have a life of their own, with words following under their skin and changing who they are. The image of a man transforming into a ghost is evoked, suggesting that the addiction has the power to turn someone into someone unrecognizable, someone who has lost touch with reality.

The chorus speaks to the inevitability of addiction, with people seeking out their "fix" one by one. The repetition of the phrase "oh oh oh oh" adds to the sense of inevitability and a feeling of helplessness in the face of this powerful force. The second verse continues with the theme of addiction, with minds being held captive like cocoons that have died and tombs full of lies. The image of addiction as a disease that takes hold of someone and transforms them is made all the more vivid by the repeated references to words sinking under the skin and taking on a life of their own.

Overall, "Loose Fix" is a haunting and powerful song that speaks to the destructive nature of addiction, the way it can consume a person and change who they are from the inside out. The lyrics are evocative and ominous, with a sense of inevitability that is hard to shake. The chorus, with its repetitive "oh oh oh oh," is a haunting reminder of just how powerful addiction can be.

Good idea, however the rubber may dry over time and cause other issues. You can get a plastic electrical receptacle box extension ring for less than a $1 (depending on size), which is a piece of plastic that goes over the existing outlet and fills in all the voids.

My house is riddled with outlets like this.  I have to admit it was frightening watching that screwdriver slip next to the outlet like that.  Nice tip, thanks for sharing!

@fuscia13 I hope the little girl was not watching you fix that with the power on, well like you said "It is stupid to have the power on". remember you get shock and stuck, so will your girl when she touches you. Be safe next time, I am a concern landlord myself and tell your landlord to fix it next time.

@Chuckles LOL! I should have a disclaimer about my lack of safety precautions.

@Suzy Krone My son-in-law changed out the light switches in his house. When he finished, I told him I was impressed since he had never done anything like that before. He said, "Thanks, but...is it supposed to sting? True story. He now watches several YouTubes before starting projects.

I know! I should cut off the power. I'm a little insane to do some of this stuff like I do.
