This, and many more is hidden beneath the electro-guitar sound of the Prague’s four.
It’s been few years since Janne Marvannen (vocal), Robert Broj (keyboards), I.G. Dvorsky (drums) and Vito Hayek (guitar) kicked off with their well-appraised melancholy debut “Sunrise”. And today, after touring to support their 2007 release “EXIT:NOWhere”, the band is now yet ahead of a new adventure of clearing the bar.
A necessity to learn about this jewel from the heart of Europe for someone loving Depeche Mode, Placebo, IAMX, De/Vision, Mesh or New Order.
Farewell
Lakeside X Lyrics

When here we are at the end of everything
It's quiet
And hopeless
We're torn apart
There is nothing we can do at all
It's like a bullet in my head
It's into pieces anyway
With every part of it yelling at me: "It's the end!"
You can't touch me anymore
And the shadows they become alive
Catching me into their arms
Just say goodbye, it's time
Farewell farewell farewell
Farewell my baby
Farewell farewell farewell
Farewell my baby
The clock's broken
It no longer keeps our time alive
It's cold here
And I can't see what lays beyond now
It's just here and now
Just here and now
No fourth dimension to travel by
Can't rewind, we've come, we've come too far
No happy endings, no titled ends
No time to run, no heaven sent
It's just here, just now, just say
Farewell my baby
Farewell farewell farewell
Farewell my baby
Farewell farewell farewell
Farewell my baby
The clock's broken
It no longer keeps our time alive
It's cold here
And I can't see what lays beyond now
It's just here and now
Just here and now
The lyrics to Lakeside X's song Farewell depict the end of a relationship or significant event in one's life. The first few lines suggest that although it's the end, the singer can't do away with the smile on their partner's face. The melancholic tone of the song is set by the lines "it's quiet, and hopeless, we're torn apart" which disregard any hope of redemption for the relationship. The singer cannot let go of the memories and the good times they shared, and is struggling to come to terms with the loss. The line "it's like a bullet in my head" portrays the pain and shock the singer experiences, as if they never imagined the eventuality of goodbye being the outcome of their relationship. They try to hold onto it, through a prayer or any way possible, but it only falls into pieces, yelling at them that it's the end.
The pre-chorus sees the singer giving up on trying to hold on, as "you can't touch me anymore." The shadows symbolize the deep sadness and despair that has made them hollow, and they concede to catching onto their embrace, saying it's time to say goodbye. The chorus repeats the word farewell, as they bid adieu to their partner. The clock symbolizes time passing without them, and how it no longer ticks for both of them. The final verse asserts that there is no way to turn back time and no happy ending to expect. The only thing left for them is to face the present, here and now and say farewell to a baby (or significant other), and accept that it's over.
