Also, Lalaine starred in the original Disney Channel feature film “You Wish!,” which became the highest rated original film in the channel’s history.
Lalaine performed the title song “You Wish” which subsequently began playing on Radio Disney and has been on the station’s Top 30 Countdown for the past 6 months. Lalaine’s songwriting ability was displayed soon thereafter as she co-wrote six tracks on her debut album entitled “Inside Story” with producers Jay Lazaroff and Erik Isaacs. True To Me
Lalaine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Even when I found myself all alone
I never needed someone else to want me
To make me feel wanted 'cause
Deep inside I've always known
Who I am
All I am
Is true to me
In a world where lies can let you down
I pick myself up off the ground
'Cause I'm true to me
Honestly
I've wrestled with conformity
And all that I can be is true to me
The lyrics of Lalaine's "True To Me" express the idea of self-acceptance and the importance of living in a way that is true to oneself. The first verse begins with the singer stating that she never believed in the concept of loneliness even when she found herself alone. She asserts that she does not need someone else to make her feel wanted because she already knows who she truly is. The chorus then emphasizes this belief, stating that the singer is faithful to herself and is true to herself above all else. The lyrics suggest that living in harmony with oneself is more important than conforming to societal expectations or seeking validation from others.
The second verse continues with the theme of self-discovery and struggle against conformity. The singer confesses that she has wrestled with the pressure to conform to the expectations of others but ultimately finds that the only way to be true to herself is to reject these external influences. In the final line of the song, Lalaine declares that all she can be is true to herself.
Overall, "True To Me" is a powerful statement about the importance of self-acceptance and living in a way that is authentic to oneself. The lyrics encourage listeners to resist the pressure to conform and instead to embrace their true selves.
