Trans Fatty Acid
Lamb Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No one said it would be easy
Did anyone tell you the road would be straight and long?
Relax your mind and give it all to me
'Cause you know and I know our love is strong enough

To weather the rain
To weather the snow
To weather the storm
To weather the rain
To weather the snow
To weather the storm

Often I see fear in your eyes
And sometimes I know your heart is full of little arrows
But trust in me and no one can do you wrong
'Cause I know and you know our love is strong enough

To weather the rain
To weather the snow
To weather the storm
To weather the rain
To weather the snow
To weather the storm
To weather the rain
To weather the snow
To weather the storm
To weather the rain

To weather the snow
To weather the storm

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Lamb's song "Trans Fatty Acid" convey a message of hope and reassurance in the face of challenges and difficulties in a romantic relationship. The first verse alludes to the fact that the path to love is seldom straightforward or easy. The line "Did anyone tell you the road would be straight and long?" suggests that the journey of love is often unpredictable and full of twists and turns. The singer then urges the listener to relax and trust in their love. The refrain "To weather the rain, to weather the snow, to weather the storm" suggests that they are prepared to face any obstacles that come their way, and that together they can overcome anything.

The second verse addresses the listener's fears and vulnerabilities. The singer acknowledges that the listener may be afraid of getting hurt, and that their heart may be full of "little arrows" - likely a metaphor for emotional pain. However, the singer reassures the listener that they can be trusted to protect them, and that together they can weather any storm. Overall, the song's message is one of resilience, trust, and unwavering commitment to love.

Every word seems placed by nature and blessed. Truly one of the best songs on the album not to take away from it though. Every song is a journey that makes me want to wrap myself in cotton wool. the drum beats are so on point and always stay locked in the head brain. I LOVE LAMBP. Thank you for posting!!!

Until today (check the date) Id only ever heard the remix, found on a mixmag or dj mag front cover CD in 95ish...... I'd lay on the bed, mesmerised hoping that one day I'd find a relationship deep enough to match the song, it connect with and moved me that much. The sloppy beat, difty, sexy melody and the most beautiful voice singing simple but deep as fuck lyrics... .. Then I lost the CD, forgot about the song and life moved on. Watching a YouTube documentary on recycling today I heard this tune (again the remix) playing in the background and my love for the song was reignited... I then spent the rest of the evening (tonight) geeking out on Lamb, the music, the history and not only do I love the song even more, I now love this, the original version too AND I'm in the relationship which matches the song.. Amazing music, amazing people. Thank you for making such wonderful music which touched me so deeply when it was a nameless song by nameless people. I'm now a fan for life x

Dude that's one of the most sad story's I've ever heard! 1996 besides of all that pop shit this album suddenly appeared in the stores...

One of maybe 5 all time tracks ever made

I’m pretty new to trip hop but once this came on a mix I had going I was shook.
I closed my eyes and just evaporated.

Really interesting to hear how different this is from the K&D mix. So much more sparse. And how she's kind of singing the chorus off-beat...it's pretty cool.

Awesome song ... thanks for putting it up!!

This is right up there with Kemuri from DJ Krush as one of the finest trip-hop songs of all time.

I remember first hearing this on Jason Bentleys radio show back in the day. I was hooked that night.

Wow. I'm such a fan of the K&D version, but now I hear this (again): man, I prefer this one. Very deep, dub, dark. Nice.
