Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd
Lana Del Rey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard?
Mosaic ceilings, painted tiles on the wall
I can't help but feel somewhat like my body marred my soul
Handmade beauty sealed up by two man-made walls
And I'm like

When's it gonna be my turn?
When's it gonna be my turn?
Open me up, tell me you like it
Fuck me to death, love me until I love myself
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard

There's a girl who sings "Hotel California"
Not because she loves the notes or sounds that sound like Florida
It's because she's in a world preserved, only a few have found the door
It's like Camarillo, only silver mirrors running down the corridor
Oh, man

When's it gonna be my turn?
Don't forget me
When's it gonna be my turn?
Open me up, tell me you like me
Fuck me to death, love me until I love myself
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard
Don't forget me
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard

Harry Nilsson has a song, his voice breaks at 2:05
Something about the way he says, "Don't forget me"
Makes me feel like
I just wish I had a friend like him, someone to get me by
Leaning in my back, whispering in my ear, "Come on, baby, you can drive"
But I can't

When's it gonna be my turn?
Don't forget me
When's it gonna be my turn?
Open me up, tell me you like it
Fuck me to death, love me until I love myself
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard

Don't forget me
Like the tunnel under Ocean Boulevard
Don't forget me
Like the tunnel under Ocean Boulevard
Don't forget me
Like the tunnel under Ocean Boulevard

Don't forget me, don't forget me

No, no, no, don't forget me
Don't you, don't you forget me (no, oh)

This song is IT- I lived in Santa Monic, CA back in late 90's, early 2000's, and had just had my entire family taken away from me.

I used to sit there by that tunnel in shock, PRAYING THIS VERY WORDS under my breath, that my children "don't forget me..." I begged it, prayed it, grieved until my heart nearly stopped and ended up in intensive care for eight weeks- they call it 'broken heart syndrome...'

I was in a place between life and death, pain and numb, living near that tunnel for about 15 years... Alone, celibate, trusting God.... It was a certain time in California...

This song is totally that. She is sublime. Her voice, emotion, hope, despair, woeful prayer.

Her lyrics, "Don't forget me, There's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd., When's it gonna be my turn (for a family)" totally expresses what I was feeling when my children were taken away... After I was tortured for 7 months as a political prisoner (not a criminal- THAT was the f$#& me to death portion- being tortured literally for religious and political reasons and not for crimes I had ever done) and the church woman that was NEVER called by GOD but was great at sex CAUSED me to have my children removed so that she could have the guy who proposed to me... The injustice of it was something that has kept me celibate and alone now since 1992...

Love is apparently not real when uttered from men's lips (or even written marriage agreements, which I had...) Suffice to say, that woman's God of home wrecking is NOT A REAL ONE. It did, however, strengthen MY Jewish faith). I have learned that 98% of the world is system lies and hypocrisy, and maybe only 2% or very little is real at all...

So, I love this song, even though I am old and alone and soon to leave this land. (By the way, my name is also Wendy Rosen...)

She is a singer ... She expresses that feeling, the hope, the pain, the despair, the prayers one wonders if ever will be fulfilled...Wow...

When you hear her in this song saying "When is it gonna be my turn" after just watching the Grammys is just...

@azerty_uiopqsdfghjklmwxcvb

This is so real.

@waihtet3027

I feel so sad for her. I love her so much and she doesn't deserve this situation again.

😢

@Jimmykras

Fug the Grammy. Their so many artists out there who deserve to be acknowledged. The Grammys don't mean what they used to anymore. Culture is evolving like a corpse; it is decaying.
