Gods & Monsters
Lana Del Rey Lyrics
(L.A., L.A.)
(L.A., L.A.)
In the land of gods and monsters
I was an angel
Living in the garden of evil
Screwed up, scared, doing anything that I needed
Shining like a fiery beacon
You got that medicine I need
Put your hands on my waist, do it softly
Me and God we don't get along, so now I sing
No one's gonna take my soul away
Living like Jim Morrison
Headed towards a fucked up holiday
Motel sprees, sprees, and I'm singing
"Fuck yeah, give it to me, this is Heaven, what I truly want"
It's innocence lost
Innocence lost
In the land of gods and monsters
I was an angel, lookin' to get fucked hard
Like a groupie incognito posing as a real singer
Life imitates art
You got that medicine I need
Dope, shoot it up straight to the heart, please
I don't really wanna know what's good for me
God's dead, I said, "Baby that's alright with me"
No one's gonna take my soul away
Living like Jim Morrison
Headed towards a fucked up holiday
Motel sprees, sprees, and I'm singing
"Fuck yeah, give it to me, this is Heaven, what I truly want"
It's innocence lost
Innocence lost
When you talk it's like a movie and you're making me crazy
'Cause life imitates art
If I get a little prettier, can I be your baby?
You tell me, "Life isn't that hard"
No one's gonna take my soul away
I'm living like Jim Morrison
Headed towards a fucked up holiday
Motel sprees, sprees, and I'm singing
"Fuck yeah, give it to me, this is Heaven, what I truly want"
It's innocence lost
Innocence lost

In the land of gods and monsters
I was an angel
Living in the garden of evil
Screwed up, scared, doing anything that I needed
Shining like a fiery beacon
You got that medicine I need
Fame, liquor, love, give it to me slowly
Put your hands on my waist, do it softly
Me and God we don't get along, so now I sing
No one's gonna take my soul away
Living like Jim Morrison
Headed towards a fucked up holiday
Motel, sprees, sprees, and I'm singing

I am a prisoner of my own free will
I chose not this path in life
But it's only darkness I see, never the light
I wish for spring to come, and life to bloom
But I lye a prisoner in this lonely tomb
I chose not this path in life
It seems I have lost the will to fight
Carry on push through it they say
But they don't know what I go through everyday
Pain and sorrow is all I know
Day by day it continues to grow
The pain it festers deep inside
It's to much to bare or try and hide
I lied to myself, I was not true
From this battle I grow weary
I think I am through
Somthings in life we must accept
But that's hard when you have only regret
I want to feel the sun, and gaze upon the stars
But that's hard to do, when the sun reveals your scares
I got comfortable with this feelings inside
And now they no longer wish to hide
Before I could wear a smile, days on end
Even though it was all pretend
My persona is the opposite of what I am
A smile shadows my face, but I cry within
I don't want your words of sympathy
Nor your pity
Just understand that I gave my best
I am tired of fighting now
All I want is rest

Troy Talks
Lana has repeatedly said in several interviews that having her song performed by legendary actress Jessica Lange on American Horror Story was a dream come true. So whenever someone comments that they came here because of AHS just know that Lana must be smiling to herself knowing that her collaboration with AHS has introduced her music to so many new fans. They come because of AHS but they STAY because of her amazing voice. Also, as a writer of the song....she gets paid $$$ no matter who sings it. So although it might be annoying to fans of Lana who loved her before AHS, don't be mean to those of us who were introduced to her by her collaboration with a show that many lana fans have grown to love.

So anyway, Troy….. years later, yes I know.. but who cares. Jessica Lange sang this song in the show. Big fan by the way! Would’ve never known it if it were not for ahs, sorry.. BUT, Lana del ray??? Awesome!!! Yes! Thank u Jessica Lange and AHS for leading us (or myself) to Lana del ray!!!!!! Love the song.

I like how Lana Del Rey always looks appears so pretty and elegant and then there's just this dark, foul-mouthed, rebellious soul inside her
