Who abide in His shadow for life
Say to the Lord, "My refuge
My rock, in whom I trust!"
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
The snare of the fowler
Will never capture you
And famine will bring you no fear
Under His wings, your refuge
His faithfulness, your shield
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the brеath of dawn
Make you to shine like thе sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
You need not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by day
Though thousands fall about you
Near you it shall not come
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
For to His angels He's given a command
To guard you in all of your ways
Upon their hands they will bear you up
Lest you dash your foot against a stone
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
And hold you
Hold you in the palm of His hand
The lyrics to Lana Del Rey's song "On Eagle's Wings" convey a sense of finding solace, protection, and trust in a higher power. The opening lines, "You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord, who abide in His shadow for life," suggest a deep connection with God and a reliance on His guidance. The singer acknowledges God as their refuge and rock, indicating an unwavering trust in His presence and support.
The chorus, "And He will raise you up on eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand," paints a vivid picture of divine protection and upliftment. The imagery of being carried by eagle's wings symbolizes being raised to new heights, carried gently and effortlessly by the morning breeze. The comparison to the sun speaks to the idea of radiance and inner strength, while being held in the palm of God's hand evokes a sense of security and care.
Throughout the song, there is an emphasis on the assurance that, under God's wings, there is safety and refuge from the dangers of the world. The mention of the "snare of the fowler" and the lack of fear towards famine suggest that the singer believes in God's faithfulness and protection against any harm or hardship. Additionally, the lyrics address the fear of the night and the arrows of the day, reassuring the listener that they need not be afraid, for they are shielded and safeguarded.
The closing lines reflect the belief in angelic guardianship, as the singer acknowledges that God has commanded His angels to protect and guide them. This imagery reinforces the idea that the listener is supported and cared for by both God and His celestial beings.
