TV In Black

Prison isn't going to keep me from you
Remember Coney Island and how we
Went into the water
'til the waves turned blue?
Nobody does have to know
That our love's alive
Keep it on the low if you want to hideGot that same address if you want to write
One Greenwich Avenue
Wishing and thinking of you
Living without you's like TV
In black and white
You turned me on and brought
Color into my life
When I'm around you, suddenly, I realize
That I was blind before I saw
The world through your eyes
If you get lonely, think of this only
Heaven hasn't forgotten about you
Though you can't hold me
Pick up and phone me
Use your one phone call on your ex girl, boo
I won't tell a single soul
How you spend your nights
In that single cell
Holding your pillow tight
If you really are afraid
Then you ought to know
That you're the one I want
The one I want forever more
Living without you's like TV
In black and white
You turned me on and brought
Color into my life
When I'm around you, suddenly, I realize
That I was blind before I saw
The world through your eyes
I know you get scared sometimes, boy
Nothing to be feared when you're in my heart
Troubles come in threes but in your case
They came in millions and trillions
But that's all right
Living without you's like TV
In black and white
You turned me on and brought
Color into my life
When I'm around you, suddenly, I realize
That I was blind before I saw
The world through your eyes
Like TV in black and white
Like TV in black and white
Like TV in black and white
Like TV in black and white
In "TV In Black & White," Lana Del Rey explores themes of longing, nostalgia, and the transformative power of love. The song begins with a sense of separation, as she tells her lover that if they ever feel lonely, they should think of her and remember the moments they shared together. She assures them that even though they may be physically apart, their love will persist through any obstacles, even prison. The mention of Coney Island and the blue waves signifies a joyful and carefree time they spent together.
As the song progresses, Del Rey emphasizes the need for secrecy and discretion, suggesting that their love should be kept hidden from the world. She reminds her lover of their shared address, implying that they can still stay connected by writing letters. The chorus highlights the impact her lover has had on her life, comparing living without them to watching a black and white TV, devoid of vibrancy and meaning. Their presence brought color into her life and opened her eyes to a new perspective.
In the second verse, Del Rey reassures her lover that, despite any doubts or fears they may have, their connection remains strong. She encourages them to reach out to her even though they cannot physically be together, emphasizing that she will not reveal their secret to anyone. The bridge acknowledges the difficulties and challenges they have faced, but affirms that love has the power to overcome them. Del Rey addresses her lover's fears, assuring them that they have nothing to worry about when they are in her heart. She ends the song with a repeated chorus, emphasizing the profound impact her lover has had on her life.
