Video Games
Lana Del Rey Lyrics

Pull up in your fast car whistling my name
Open up a beer
And you say, "Get over here," and play a video game
I'm in his favorite sun dress
Watching me get undressed, take that body downtown
I say, "You da bestest"
Lean in for a big kiss, put his favorite perfume on
"Go play your video game"
It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls, honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
And baby, now you do
Singing in the old bars
Swinging with the old stars
Living for the fame
Kissing in the blue dark
Playing pool and wild darts
Video games
He holds me in his big arms
Drunk and I am seeing stars
This is all I think of
Watching all our friends fall
In and out of Old Paul's
This is my idea of fun
Playing video games
It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls, honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do (now you do)
It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls, honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby, now you do
(Now you do, now you do, now you do)
Now you do
(Now you do, now you do, now you do)
The lyrics of Lana Del Rey's song "Video Games" depict a relationship that is driven by the shared enjoyment of simple pleasures such as playing video games, drinking beer and kissing in the dark. The opening lines paint a picture of a carefree summer day, with the singer swinging in the backyard and her lover arriving in his fast car whistling her name. They open a beer, and she takes off her clothes while he watches. She puts on his favorite perfume and leans in for a big kiss before telling him to go play his video games. The chorus repeats the message that everything she does is for him, and that being with him is like heaven on earth. She asks him what he wants to do and whether he likes the bad girls, to which he responds that it's better than he ever knew.
Throughout the song, Lana del Rey contrasts the romantic bliss she feels with the bleak reality of living for the sake of fame and watching friends fall in and out of love. Despite the simplicity of the relationship she describes, she sees it as the only thing worth living for. The final repetition of the chorus is accompanied by the exclamation "now you do," which implies that her lover has finally realized how much she loves him, and they can now be truly happy together.

There is a line in this song that speaks to me. I wrote a poem around it recently after a pretty rough breakup. Hope you enjoy <3
Crying in the bathtub
Washing off the old Love,
seems to be stuck.
He Wraps me in his big arms,
Drunk and I am seeing stars
This is all I think of.
Whisper in the darkness,
this is for the memories
release me please.
Erasing all your love qoutes,
burning all your love notes.
Yet they Remain.
