Lana Lane grew up in a very music-oriented family, with the sounds of her mother's voice and the radio constantly filling the air. Naturally, Lana picked this up and started becoming seriously interested in singing in high school. She moved to Los Angeles to further her career where she met future husband, music producer, and synth/keyboardist Erik Norlander. The two eventually founded their own production company/record label Think Tank Media to release their work. She has produced many recordings using a many guest musicians such as Pain of Salvation's Kristoffer Gildenlow.
Arjen Anthony Lucassen, mastermind of Ayreon, Ambeon, Stream of Passion, and Star One, took note of Lana's voice, and the two have collaborated on a few projects together. Arjen took a part in the writing of Tarot, and Lana did guest vocals on Ayreon's Universal Migrator albums, for example.
Lana has produced many albums over the years, though Secrets of Astrology and Queen of the Ocean are the most widely known.
Athena's Shadow
Lana Lane Lyrics

Flying on dragon wings
You free the fire from burning souls
Whispering softly
Dreams return like echoes in the rain
Far away
Far away
Can't escape the spell I'm under
You spend your nights
Searching the moon
Hoping for one more view
Of golden fruit outshining the stars
Dream them home to corners of your mind
Far away
Hear the sound of distant thunder
Far away
Can't escape the spell I'm under
The song Athena's Shadow by Lana Lane describes the mythical goddess Athena and her power. In the first stanza, the lyrics convey the image of Athena riding a sleigh made of precious jewels, flying with dragon wings and whispering softly to free the fire from burning souls. The second stanza describes the singer's experience of being under the goddess's spell, dreaming about Athena's power and spending nights searching for the moon and golden fruit that outshines the stars. The last line of the stanza "Dream them home to corners of your mind" suggests that the singer is trying to bring the dreams into reality.
The chorus repeats the lines "Far away, hear the sound of distant thunder" and "Far away, can't escape the spell I'm under", emphasizing the singer's feeling of being trapped under Athena's spell. The distant thunder might represent the impending sense of danger and the unavoidable fate of being under Athena's power.
Overall, the lyrics of Athena's Shadow convey a sense of awe and admiration for the power of the goddess Athena, while also portraying the singer's struggle with being under her spell.
