Tears of Babylon
Lana Lane Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The ship touched down leaving a blue-green haze
Breaking silence all around

Their shining armor set the stars ablaze
As feet of chrome touch the ground

Their final journey done
Their nightmare found
Tears of Babylon
As the ashes fall
Flowers bloom no more
Gone are castle walls

Thet stand beside a stone once great and tall
Amid dried river bed and streams
Now nothings left but empty water falls
That once bathed many Pharoahs' queens

Their final journey done
Their nightmare found
Tears of Babylon
As the ashes fall
Flowers bloom no more
Gone are castle walls

Inside the ship
They set a course for home
Mourning life's final flame

Far in the distance
Their fate is know
Never finding whose to blame

Their final journey done
Their nightmare found
Tears of Babylon
As the ashes fall

Flowers bloom no more
Gone are castle walls

Overall Meaning

The song Tears of Babylon by Lana Lane tells the story of an alien race who has visited earth and caused destruction. The ship that carried the aliens landed on earth, leaving behind a blue-green haze and breaking the silence. The aliens were adorned in shining armor, and as they stepped out of the ship, the chrome feet touched the ground, setting the stars ablaze. It appears that the aliens had completed their final journey, and their nightmare had been found. The lyrics suggest that these aliens had something to do with the destruction of a great civilization, which is referred to as Babylon.

The lyrics then mention how the once-great civilization had been reduced to ruins. The castle walls were gone, and flowers no longer bloomed. The once-mighty stone that stood tall was now beside a dried river bed and streams. All that is left is empty waterfalls that used to bathe many Pharaohs' queens. As the aliens set course for their home, they mourn life's final flame, knowing that their fate is now known. They will never find out whose to blame for what happened.
