II. LANCASTER'S BIO
Nicknamed "Brazilian Blues Sensation" by Randall Hill, editor of Austin Blues Monthly, Lancaster is a pioneer of the blues in his country. In 1998 and 1999 he released the first two Chicago Blues albums recorded in Brazil. Throughout his thirty-year career he has performed and recorded with such blues legends as Willie "Big Eyes Smith" (Muddy Waters' late drummer), Mud Morganfield (Muddy Waters' Eldest son), Deacon Jones (organist with Freddie King and John Lee Hooker), among others.
Born in Brazil in 1964 in a bilingual family, Lancaster moved to the United States in 1981, where he graduated from highschool in Salem, Oregon. From 1994 to 1995 Lancaster lived in Los Angeles, where he performed with a local band in Southern California. Residing in Brazil since 1996, he has released six albums, one EP and the new videos HAUS BIER SESSIONS – live in the studio.
Lancaster & The Hot Pockets are a band in the true sense of the word. Friends who have been together on the road for almost twenty years and have developed their own unique style of blues. Bassist Izal de Oliveira and drummer Maurício Gaspar recorded Lancaster’s seminal album A Beautiful Day For the Blues in 1999. Edu Souza joined The Hot Pockets four years ago. His rhythm guitar and backing vocals have since then become essential to the sound of the band.

Lancaster Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's tough to make you obey me, darling
Let me out, it's not like I knew
Just give me a break and don't be so cruel
The wishes of the people are like scraps of irony
And everybody has the same mechanical feeling
Just rushing to get in on this virgin happy show
I've got many wishes and not just this brand new one
It's the same as ever and there's more
A warning, warning
All of my attention is devoted to this wish
And I'm gonna give it all to you now
Left side, right side
Show your fangs and make me shake
Pa-pa-pa, it's so embarrassing
Left side, right side
Show your fangs like you don't care
Pa-pa-pa, haha
YOU ARE KING
Looking so damn innocent
I'm wishing for you, darling, darling
When you laugh, it makes me melt
All of my pain just fades away
And if I die awkwardly
My bitter feelings will go with me
Lo-lo-love, ra-ta-ta
Hate it, I hate it, I'm down for the count
I've got many wishes and not just this brand new one
It's the same as ever and no special
Warning, warning
All of my attention is devoted to this wish
And I'm gonna give it all to you now
Left side, right side
Show your fangs and make me shake
Pa-pa-pa, it is so bothersome
Left side, right side
Show your fangs like you don't care
Pa-pa-pa, haha
YOU ARE KING
YOU ARE KING
The lyrics of Lancaster's song "King" portray a sense of frustration and longing for freedom and authenticity in a world that feels artificial and controlled. The opening lines, "The smart one's locked up and dying, It's tough to make you obey me, darling," suggest a feeling of confinement or oppression, where intelligence and individuality are suppressed or disregarded. The singer pleads to be released and asks for a break from the cruelty that surrounds them.
The lyrics continue to explore the idea that people's desires and aspirations are trivialized or reduced to mere scraps of irony. They describe a society where everyone follows a mechanical routine, rushing to be a part of a superficial, happy facade without truly understanding what is happening or what lies ahead. The repetition of the line "Left side, right side, show your fangs like you don't care" emphasizes a sense of performance and pretense, where individuals are expected to put on a show of indifference.
However, despite the frustration and artificiality, there is a glimmer of hope and a focus on the object of the singer's affection. The repetition of the line "I've got many wishes and not just this brand new one, It's the same as ever and there's more" suggests an enduring desire and devotion. The singer is willing to give their full attention and dedicate themselves entirely to this wish, hoping for a genuine connection and escape from the surrounding disillusionment.
Overall, "King" speaks to a longing for authenticity, freedom, and connection in a world that often feels stifling and artificial.

Wow more of my families Ancestry.
I am the ×generations great grandson to King Edward 1st Longshanks Plantagenet and Queen Eleanor Castile. They started my family line, their Daughter Princess Joan of Acre is my ×Generations grandmother. So hearing my families history still intrigues me. Except the history of King Henry the 8th, family still hates him most of all. He was afraid of being overthrown.

I really enjoy the history of the Plantangenets. And People Profiles does a wonderful job in regard to documentaries about them. The Tudors get all the attention and I personally like the Plantangenet dynasty better. And I like the Anglo Saxon period too. Alfred the Great is another one of my favorite rulers of England.

Fascinating history. A lot of abusive shitty parenting. A lot of lessons that can be learned

Henry IV is one of the most underrated Plantagenet kings of England, but that’s probably because of the precedent he created for the English throne. However, I don’t blame Henry IV for overthrowing his tyrant cousin, Richard II.
