Separated limb from limb
What if we were strong and held our ground
We could have been strong and held our ground
But the water came in and sour grip away
Yeah the water came in and sour grip away
The lyrics of Land Lines's song Limb from Limb speak about the pain of being torn apart or separated "limb from limb". The first few lines suggest that this kind of experience happens to all of us at some point in our lives. The metaphor of being "torn apart" emphasizes the severe emotional impact of these experiences, leaving one feeling broken or incomplete.
The second part of the lyrics explores the possibility of withstanding such experiences and holding one's ground. It suggests that if we were stronger, we could face these situations head on and not let them break us. However, the water symbolizes the overwhelming force of emotional turmoil that can sweep everything away, including our grip or control over the situation. The line "When the water come in it takes our breath away" represents how such a situation can leave a person feeling powerless and gasping for air.
Overall, the lyrics of Limb from Limb paint a vivid picture of the emotional pain caused by being torn apart, and the subsequent struggle to hold oneself together when faced with such adversities.
