Einstein A Go-Go
Landscape Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You better watch out you better beware
Albert said that E equals M C squared

Einstein a go go
Einstein a go go
Einstein a go go

Bible says we must pay
I am the judge for the judgement day
There'll be no warning no alarm
I'll be the one who's saved

Einstein a go go
Einstein a go go
Einstein a go go

I've got facts I know the truth
You're all corrupt you're all depraved
A few devices around the place
I'll blow you all away

God does not play dice with the world
But things aren't right in the outside world
But still there's vice in the world
I'll put things right

Einstein a go go
Einstein a go go

You better watch out you better beware (Einstein a go go)
Albert said that E equals M C squared (Einstein a go go)

You better watch out you better beware
Albert said that E equals M C squared (Einstein a go go)

You better watch out you better beware (Einstein a go go)
Albert said that E equals M C squared (Einstein a go go)

You better watch out you better beware (Einstein a go go)
Albert said that E equals M C squared (Einstein a go go)

You better watch out you better beware (Einstein a go go)
Albert said that E equals M C squared (Einstein a go go)

You better watch out you better beware (Einstein a go go)
Albert said that E equals M C squared (Einstein a go go)

You better watch out you better beware (Einstein a go go)
Albert said that E equals M C squared (Einstein a go go)

You better watch out

Overall Meaning

The song "Einstein ร  Go-Go" by Landscape is a rather surreal and ironic take on scientific genius and apocalyptic themes. The song seems to be a merging of electronic pop, new wave, and post-punk, with lyrics that reflect on the world we live in, the corrupt and destructive tendencies of humanity, and the supposed superiority of scientific knowledge over religious dogma. The song begins with a warning to the listener to watch out and beware, as an authority figure (Albert Einstein) has proclaimed that E equals M C squared - a reference to one of the most famous equations in physics. This warning is then repeated in the chorus with the phrase "Einstein a go-go" which sounds celebratory, but also has a hint of irony.

The second verse seems to reflect on religious themes, with the Bible being mentioned and the singer proclaiming himself to be a judge for the judgment day. He warns that there will be no warning or alarm, and that he will be the one who is saved. This can be interpreted as a critique of religious arrogance and self-righteousness. The third verse brings the focus back to science and Einstein's famous quote "God does not play dice with the world". The singer seems to suggest that while the world may be deterministic in nature, it is far from perfect and there are vices that need to be corrected. He claims to have the facts and the truth on his side, and a few devices (possibly a reference to Einstein's inventions) that can "blow you all away". The song ends with another repetition of the warning and the E=MC2 equation, with the singer sounding both sardonic and playful.

Overall, the song can be interpreted in a variety of ways, from a celebration of scientific progress to a critique of religious and political authority. The juxtaposition of catchy synth-pop melodies and dark, surreal lyrics adds to the song's charm and makes it an interesting artifact of the early 80s post-punk scene.

My mum would record an hour of music from the radio onto a temp cassette.

This was one of the songs that I heard at age 6 (1981). Love at first aural. Unfortunately mummy accidentally recorded over it and It took me about 30 years to figure out the name of the track and band.

Imagine going into a record store and saying, โ€œHey have you heard a song like this?โ€ Followed by weird stares.

I was just lucky that someone typed out the esoteric lyrics onto the modern Internet and since I dropped out of computer programming, I could still run string searches, based on half forgotten memories. The song was so catchy that it embedded quite deeply.

Super ironically funny that I would end up gifted in Advanced Physics in the UKโ€ฆ

I am enjoying these comments and memories almost as much as this ace tune from way back when. Still not sure what any of it was about. I remember it playing on Englandโ€™s R1, in the Sunday countdown, in a car on the way back from once-weekly day trips with my lovely, sweet foster parents, Moira and Bob, who did more for my moral, spiritual and intellectual evolution than either of my real parents ever did. You are not forgotten, guys.โค

I never tire of hearing this timeless classic form 41 years ago. I spent my pocket money on buying this single and still have my copy along with the vinyl album . You guys were ahead of your time with both this single and video that goes with it. Norman Bates the follow up single should have also been a bigger hit
