I Have Known Rivers
Langston Hughes Lyrics

mi ai salvato la vita
...,.
...
...
suona il corno dei
suonalo per me
che stagioni ormai
di andarmene
un po cosi
senza piu ali
senza la tua luce
come un cielo che
stelle piΓΉ non ha
ero il sogno
di un soldato
ero in liberta
e muoriro
per te
portami via
e laschiami cosi
...
suona il corno dei
tanto fa lo stesso
non c'Γ¨ piΓΉ strada ormai
che porti fino a te
il buio mi assale
mi porta via
in alto se ne va
lanima mia
che sai
lasciami qui
ma da lontano
oltre le montagne
una voce dice
ricordati chi sei
sei un saldato che
non sara mai sciavo
non ti arrendere
ricordati chi sei
...
sei un guerriero che
combatte per la vita
per la liberta

per la liberta

What a treasure, that we have Langston Hughes' own voice still.

@depreepounds4419

I was just thinking this. I am so glad my children will be able to hear his poetry in his own voice. ❀

Well spoken too the old movies always made us seem so uneducated ,look how smart he sounds when he is not reading a racist script .πŸ’ͺ🏾πŸ’ͺ🏾πŸ’ͺ🏾πŸ’ͺ🏾hate he they would make us look

@jochanaan58

When he speaks he sounds very ordinary, but when he recites he becomes the great poet. Magnificent!

@ZenGrammy

Exactly

I read this poem for the first time in 3rd grade. And I instantly feel in love with it. A very short poem; however, those few lines filled my heart with the richness and greatness of my people!

@brunapixie5969

He was a genius, so young and so wise. If he wrote only this poem in his life it would be perfect.

@Ray_Davis15

Reading this poem as a child, I never thought that it would be the dawn of defining my writing.
