It was the second dispatchers fault she told the authorities that she felt like it was a prank when the boy was actually dying on the phone! A lot of dispatchers have failed people and they need to have them take sensitivity training and anger management training as well a lot of times the dispatcher ends up hanging up on somebody very frustrated and mad at them and the person is witnessing a violent crime or panicking because they're about to die!!!! A lot of these dispatchers don't even have an ounce of regret whatsoever and get put on paid leave after failing people miserably!!!!!

I wish he had called his father, who would have rushed over there and called the police on the way. It's unfortunate, but sometimes 911 simply isn't reliable. We've seen stories like this time and time again. RIP, my deepest condolences. I remember the story and it was devastating to hear the 911 call audio.

This breaks my heart. He put his trust in the system and the system failed him. I've always told my kids to call 911 first but that's going to change. Well the difference is the father knows exactly what the vehicle looks like while the dispatcher is providing little information to the cops making it the dispatchers fault, but yah nope it’s the cops at the wrong. ACAB ACAB. Idk why everyone assumes they dropped the investigation dead when they considered it might be a prank, and for that matter, when the dad found the kid, that doesn’t mean the police were not there

I’ve had a similar experience when my mom was abducted by her husband. The dispatcher and the police just kept shunning me, next day my mom went home wailing and with bruises - thankfully she survived. That moment I lost trust in the system

Being a mother to a 17yr old son, my heart breaks for this boy and his family! I cannot even begin to fathom how this would haunt me for the rest of my life!! Every call should be taken serious whether U believe it to be true or a prank!! Who has the right to decide whether this boy was truthful or not!?!?! For the 2 dispatchers who failed this young man, I hope his voice haunts them for the rest of their lives! When I first found out couldn’t believe it he was this amazing kind kid who didn’t deserve to die this way we will always remember him in our hearts and everyday when I walk into his yard I know it will never be the same. This is exactly why I show my son the trunk release latches on the inside. Most cargo areas and trunk spaces or storage spaces have emergency latches inside but youngsters have to be educated on their location it is not something they learn on tick tock unfortunately

It is NOT the Dispatcher's job to decide what is or isn't a prank. IT IS THEIR JOB to send the officers to the location. It's the cop's job to determine whether it was a prank or not.

The kid didn't really give a detailed description of the location so it sure would take time. But the cops found the vehicle the kid is in. But the cops didn't see the kid so they thought it's a prank and left. The dad found him later.

I'm so sorry for your family's heart breaking loss. It's unfathomable, nothing the authorities could do now will ever make it right. You have a very brave son. He's also pretty calm and well spoken considering what he was saying and from the conditions he was in. My takeaway from his words now after your loss. Your son loved his mother very, very much it was almost more important to him that they tell you that than even asking for help for himself. Also, the fact that your boy had the will to call 911 TWO times to beg for his life- he had a life that at his young age he already knew was worth living. Yall raised a boy who left this world knowing fully that he was loved. God bless, you'll be in my prayers.
