LANY is a three piece alternative band from Los Angeles, California. LANY formed in March 2014 when Paul Klein, who had a small solo career, flew to Nashville to meet up with Jake Goss and Les Priest. Previously, Goss and Priest had a separate project by the name of WRLDS, but this was discontinued after the formation of LANY. The following month they uploaded two songs, 'Hot Lights' and 'Walk Away', to SoundCloud incognito in order to differentiate between their old and new projects. Their debut EP, 'Acronymns' followed later that year, with song 'ILYSB' generating significant traffic online. Singles 'Made In Hollywood' and 'Bad, Bad, Bad' soon followed, along with the reveal of their identities.

You and me, our sheets
Wearing Nike
Kissing, no sleep
Damn, tell me where we went wrong
Been in love for so long, now it's over
How, how did we get this far?
Is this really over?
Everything was better when
You would call and I'd be like "yea, babe"
We should talk about love again
Every night I'm wide awake
I almost call you, then I'm like "no way"
Oh, no way
Hate how it feels
I know you're down the street
With someone else but me
Time, yeah, I need time
Can't forget about how you let me down
Damn, tell me where we went wrong
Been in love for so long, now it's over
How, how did we get this far?
Still not know who we are
Is this really over?
Everything was better when
You would call and I'd be like "yea, babe"
We should talk about love again
Every night I'm wide awake
I almost call you, then I'm like "no way"
Oh, no way
Everything was better when
You would call and I'd be like "yea, babe"
We should talk about love again
Every night I'm wide awake
I almost call you, then I'm like "no way"
Oh, no way
Everything was better when (tell me where we)
You would call and I'd be like "yea, babe" (been in love for so long)
We should talk about love again
Every night I'm wide awake (how did we get here)
I almost call you, then I'm like "no way" (still don't know who we are)
Oh, no way
In the song "yea, babe, no way", Lany talks about the end of a relationship and the aftermath of a breakup. In the first stanza, the lyrics suggest a night spent together, wearing white jeans and Nike, but filled with longing and regret. The chorus talks about how the relationship was better when they could talk about love, but now they’re wide awake at night and feel lost on how they got so far without knowing who they really were. In the second stanza, the singer admits to feeling hurt and angry, knowing that their ex-partner is with someone else. The chorus repeats, emphasizing how much better everything was in the past when they could talk about love.
The song is a meditative look at the past relationship and how it fell apart. The singer reminisces about the good times in the past, recognizing how much they miss the closeness they used to share with their partner. The lyrics suggest that even though the relationship ended, they still yearn to talk about love and are unable to move on. Overall, the song is a reflection on how it feels when something that was once so special and intimate ends, and how the memory of it lingers on long after it's over.
