SAY SOMETHING
Lapush Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Uou electrify me with the weight of your heart
You'll figure it out next year
Tried to prepare for this but leaving you Still makes me cry
You'll be around next year

And if you're out there just say something
Say everything is all right
If your ship has set for the open air
Just give us a sign your all right

I'd do anything just to keep you here by my side
Maybe in another time
I wish I could take away all the sadness surrounding your mind
Maybe in a lucid dream

And if you're out there just say something
Say everything is all right
If your ship has set for the open air
Just give us a sign your all right

You're still on my mind this can take some time
Slow down it's all right

Overall Meaning

In Lapush's song "Say Something", the lyrics are about missing someone but at the same time understanding that they may need to be away to figure things out. The opening line "You electrify me with the weight of your heart" suggests that the presence of this person is a powerful force that affects the singer deeply. However, the line "You'll figure it out next year" indicates that this person is going on a journey that may take some time and distance. While the singer has tried to prepare for this separation, the line "leaving you still makes me cry" reveals the pain and sadness that comes with the absence of a loved one.

The chorus of the song is a plea for communication, a way for the singer to know that the person they are missing is doing okay. "And if you're out there just say something, say everything is alright" emphasizes the need for reassurance that the person is safe and doing well. The second half of the chorus "If your ship has set for the open air, just give us a sign you're alright" has a nautical reference - a ship setting sail - implying that the person has left to explore the world, but they should still check in and let their loved ones know they're doing okay.

The song ends with the singer acknowledging that it will take time to deal with the absence of this person in their life, and to try and find a way to keep them by their side. "You're still on my mind, this can take some time. Slow down it's alright". The lyrics of "Say Something" are emotional, raw, and poetic, perfectly paired with the dreamy, indie-pop style of the music.

My brother is Kevin Bachmann, the Bass player. He and Thom has problems with drummers, and Thom wanted to do his own thing, and he has! He actually is on the show Nashville, and he has a band thing called, "Thom Donavan", also, Kevin plays for Troubadour Dali, and Tom Hardy and the Public.

@07fhs Yeah these guys broke up, they were starting to fight a lot and they weren't getting anywhere, plus they had added new members that just weren't learning their songs correctly, and they didn't want it to ruin their friendship, so they figured it was time to end it.
