In 1995, Large was supposed to release his highly anticipated solo album The LP, but it was put on hold until 2003, when a website gave a copy of The LP with the purchase of his first solo hip hop album 1st Class. Although 1st Class did not receive mainstream acceptance, it gained favorable reviews by fans and critics. The album includes guest appearances by Nas, Busta Rhymes, and Q-Tip.
Large is a protege of legendary (now deceased) white hip-hop producer Paul C, with whom he credits for teaching him virtually everything he knows about record production, and the associated technology used for making music, samples, and 'beats'. Large's publishing company is named 'Paul Sea Productions' as a homage to his late mentor.

Sittin' on the front stoop right outside
In the moonlight when I take flight, I fly
Crank the engine, then I break out like I'm benchin'
Thousands of pounds spit thousands of rounds
And verses help 'em out like a found missin' person
This time I'ma try to lounge on the cursin'
So people can hear how my rap sound perfect
Never know how long you've got on this earth, kid
Count them blesses and pay them dues
Keep rollin' with the winners 'cause they don't lose
In the two G-era the skies is looking clearer
And nothing can stop them guys that's in the mirror
So thankful that I keep my hands on the bankroll
Can't play the shit wreck, falling of the plankroll
So I stay stable like a natural born hustla
Kickin' that hot shit right for all the customers
Near or far comin' here to star
I'll be pourin' out beer in the park
For my loved ones
Deep and thick is how my love runs for you
So with no further ado
I'ma smash it, kick that shit they call acid
Twenty-four hours a day remain classic
In the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (in the sun, kid)
(Keep flowin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (in the sun, bro)
(Keep flowin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (yeah)
(We keep moving) in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (in the sun)
(We improvin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (in the sun, kid)
(We ain't stoppin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (in the sun, y'all)
(We on top and) in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (yeah)
(We keep flowin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun (in the sun)
I arise from my melinence to the sun beginning
Kiss by the ray of a sunny day
But I feel it in my bone a child's without a home
A prison cell holds a dream to a black teen
I never thought I'd see the day when brothers pledge allegiance
To a red white and blue that's wavin' untrue
Yo, where's the forty acres and a mule, huh?
You rather give us Mickey D's and a tool, huh?
And in the sun I see the way you pull a harsh dreams
And in the sun I see your own way to new things
Every man has to bow down at God's grace
Every soul has to conceed to God's goals
Politicians get religious to the star people
As the constitution reads, it says I'm not equal
Three fifths of the gifts from a love supreme
This gotta be a bad dream, I'm hearing train screams
Little kids are getting warped for computer dwarfs
Family structure is destroyed, marriage null and void
All he's gotten formulated will he hate to say it
What I can see it isn't really in the sun
In the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
(Keep flowin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
(Keep flowin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
(We keep moving) in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
(We improvin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
(We ain't stoppin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
(We on top and) in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
(We keep flowin') in the sun, sun, su-su-su-sun
Yo, don't ever think I'd forgotten
The days back plottin'
And schemin'
Sittin' in the lunchroom
Eatin' and dreamin'
On about the things we do
When we reach independence
Nothing is brand new
It's all still accordin' to plan
Meet your man
From decades ago can't nobody understand
The hardships we been through
Sun to sun
On the wake up, knock knock
Everybody gotta run for the ultimate goal
Can't lose they soul in the process
So unto you I say, "God bless"
Seeing your face lets me see my own
So I zone, and think about the days we got stoned
In the staircase of appartment buildings
Little childrens
Growing in a world so cold
Just like pilgrims, we migrate daily
Now a days we rarely get to see one another
But when we connect we still brothers
And now we in the corporate world
And the game is different
You get caught up in the twirl
If your fam ain't affective
So here's our perspective
To help each other
'Cause, man, ain't it hectic
Large Professor's song In The Sun is an introspective track that explores themes of identity, brotherhood, and societal issues such as poverty, inequality, and systemic racism. In the first verse, Large Professor talks about the need to appreciate life and count one's blessings, urging listeners to stay with winners to succeed. The hook, "In the sun," is an expression of hope that despite the challenges faced, there is a brighter future ahead. In the second verse, Large Professor delves into the struggles faced by marginalized communities, using vivid metaphors to describe the plight of African Americans, who are still grappling with the realities of slavery and institutionalized racism. He also touches upon the destructive impact of technological advancements on society and the importance of familial ties to survive life's harsh realities. The song's reflective tone is underpinned by a mellow, laid-back instrumental that allows Large Professor's introspective lyrics to take center stage.
