It's not the way, way we started out
It seems we've lost the road map, and I can't find another way
Hard times it had a hold, but now we're back on the track
Yesterday was our ambition, we can't keep this routine going
And we're moving on, this is our time, let's start a revolution
We must stay the course to make it worth our lives
Let's start a revolution
Side-tracked falling far, we're back to the way we started again
Can't, can't compete now, we must keep dependence in our hearts
You, me pulling through, somehow committed we'll finish this phase
We've come this far we proved them wrong
The lyrics to Last Tuesday's song "The Mission" begin with a plea to stop the train wreck and to take a step back to reevaluate the current situation. The singer acknowledges that the original plan, the road map, has been lost and that they need to find a new way to move forward. The hard times that they faced before had taken hold, but they have managed to find their way back on track. The chorus is a call to action, to start a revolution and stay the course, reminding themselves and others that this is their time and they need to make it worth their lives.
The second verse acknowledges that they had been side-tracked before and had fallen far from where they started, but they were determined to get back on track. The singer realizes that they can't compete in the same way they did before and that they need to keep their dependence on each other in their hearts. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the need for commitment to finishing this phase and proving to themselves and others that they have come this far and can continue to move forward.
Overall, the lyrics to "The Mission" are about perseverance in the face of adversity and the need for change and revolution to stay on track towards their goals. The song is a reminder to never give up and to stay focused on the mission at hand.
