D… Read Full Bio ↴Laura Fygi (born August 27, 1955, in Amsterdam) is a Dutch singer.
Daughter to a Dutch father, a manager at Philips, and an Egyptian mother, a belly dancer by profession, Fygi lived with her parents in South America for the first eight years of her life.
Between 1987 and 1991, she was a member of popular Dutch girl-band, Centerfold. During performances, the trio dressed themselves in sexy lingerie. They had hits in the Netherlands and all over Europe, and were equally famous in Japan.
In 1991, the ladies of Centerfold stopped performing and Fygi (together with Rowan Moore) started a band called The Backlot. After one performance in Dutch theatre Paradiso, an album was expected, but Mercury Records had already asked Fygi to make a solo album. This first album, Introducing Laura Fygi, comprised mostly jazz numbers, and was produced by Ruud Jacobs. In the album, Fygi was accompanied by celebrated Belgian musician Toots Thielemans.
Sabor A Mi

nuestras almas se acercaron, tanto asi
que yo guardo tu sabor, pero tu llevas tambien
sabor a mi
si negaras mi presencia en tu vivir
bastaria con abrasarte why conversar
tanta vida yo te di, que por fuerzas llevas ya
sabor a mi
no pretendo ser tu dueña
no soy nada yo no tengo vanidad
de mi vida doy lo bueno
soy tan pobre que otra cosa puedo dar
pasaran mas de mil años muchos mas
yo no se si tenga amor la eternidad
pero aya tal como aqui,en la boca llevaras
sabor a mi
no pretendo ser tu dueña
no soy nada yo no tengo vanidad
de mi vida doy lo bueno
soy tan pobre que otra cosa puedo dar
pasaran mas de mil años, muchos mas
yo no se si tenga amor la eternidad
pero aya tal como aqui, en la boca llevaras
sabor a mi
sabor a mi.
The lyrics to Laura Fygi's song "Sabor A Mi" speak about the lasting impression that love can leave on a person. The first verse describes the depth of the love that the singer and their partner shared, as they were so close that they left an indelible mark on each other's souls. The singer says that they carry a part of their partner with them, but their partner also carries a part of them.
The second verse describes how the singer would be content just to be near their partner, even if they couldn't be together romantically. The singer says that they have already given so much of themselves to their partner that their partner will always carry a part of them, no matter what happens.
The chorus emphasizes this idea of the lasting nature of love, as the singer says that even after a thousand years, their partner will still carry the taste or "flavor" of them in their mouth. The final verse reiterates the singer's lack of possessiveness over their partner, saying that they have no vanity and are willing to give what they can, even if it isn't much.
Overall, the lyrics to "Sabor A Mi" speak beautifully to the idea of a deep, long-lasting love that leaves an imprint on both parties involved.
