D… Read Full Bio ↴Laura Fygi (born August 27, 1955, in Amsterdam) is a Dutch singer.
Daughter to a Dutch father, a manager at Philips, and an Egyptian mother, a belly dancer by profession, Fygi lived with her parents in South America for the first eight years of her life.
Between 1987 and 1991, she was a member of popular Dutch girl-band, Centerfold. During performances, the trio dressed themselves in sexy lingerie. They had hits in the Netherlands and all over Europe, and were equally famous in Japan.
In 1991, the ladies of Centerfold stopped performing and Fygi (together with Rowan Moore) started a band called The Backlot. After one performance in Dutch theatre Paradiso, an album was expected, but Mercury Records had already asked Fygi to make a solo album. This first album, Introducing Laura Fygi, comprised mostly jazz numbers, and was produced by Ruud Jacobs. In the album, Fygi was accompanied by celebrated Belgian musician Toots Thielemans.
Volons Vers La Lune
Laura Fygi Lyrics

Prenons l'autobus
Vers Pluton, vers Uranus
Laura Fygi’s song “Volons Vers La Lune” is a whimsical and beautifully crafted piece of music that lures listeners into a world of cosmic wanderlust, taking them on a journey through the galaxies. The song speaks about the desire to explore and discover new worlds, and the hope to find someone special to share those adventures with.
The chorus speaks of flying to the moon, Saturn, Venus, and Mars on an Apollo capsule. The lyrics are an invitation to leave the mundane behind and set off into the unknown, where anything is possible. Moreover, the lyrics emphasize that the purpose of journeying through space is not to escape reality or find an escape to some utopian paradise but rather to find people “like us" in the vast universe.
In the second half of the song, Laura Fygi uses poetic language to express her feelings of love for someone special. She conceives of their story as space travel to other planets, saying that her lover is the only one she adores in the universe. The song's use of celestial metaphors conveys the grandness of the love that the singer has for her lover, as vast as the unknown universe.
