Strangers
Lauren Jauregui Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She doesn't kiss me on the mouth anymore
'Cause it's more intimate, than she thinks we should get
She doesn't look me in the eyes anymore
Too scared of what she'll see, somebody holding me

When I wake up all alone
And I'm thinking of your skin
I remember, I remember what you told me

Said that we're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all
We're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

She doesn't call me on the phone anymore
She's never listening, she says it's innocent
She doesn't let me have control anymore
I must've crossed a line, I must've lost my mind

When I wake up all alone
And I'm thinking of your skin
I remember, I remember what you told me

Said that we're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all
We're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

I miss the mornings with you laying in my bed
I miss the memories replaying in my head
I miss the thought of a forever, you and me
But all you're missing is my body, oh

Said we're not lovers (we're not lovers)
'Cause we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all

We're not lovers, we're just strangers
With the same damn hunger
To be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all (anything)

To feel anything at all
To feel anything at all

Overall Meaning

In Lauren Jauregui's song "Strangers," the lyrics tell the story of a relationship that has lost its spark, and the two people involved feel like strangers to each other. The first verse describes how the singer's partner has become more distant, refusing to engage in the intimate moments that they once shared. The second verse reveals that the partner is not as interested in being a part of the relationship as they once were, and that they have lost the desire to connect. Lastly, the chorus repeats the concept that the two people are not truly in love, but are just searching for touch, love, and to feel anything at all. The final lines of the song serve to bring the song full circle and they echo the idea that what was once important has become lost.

The lyrics in "Strangers" explore the reality that sometimes current intimate partners can experience a sense of isolation and disconnection from each other. It may recount an experience in a specific romantic relationship, but it also reflects on the general experience of intimacy in close relationships. The song's lyrics connect with listeners who may have experienced the same sense of loneliness and disconnection in their own relationships. Listening to this song may help others appreciate the fact that they are not alone in how they feel and it might encourage them to seek the support and healing that they need.

You people need to think if you are here only for seeing gay content, or you are Halsey's fan who, at least, tries to understand hfk concept. This is my view.
First of all, the point of the album was to create a twisted storyline. Halsey in one of her interviews said 'I switched the characters, so in my story, i am Romeo.' Which means that Luna is Romeo, and Solis is Juliet.
Second, a few days ago, there was a post by Halsey with description 'See how the story began.' which leads us here, to Strangers MV. This is the beginning of the story.
Third, if you've ever read real Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, than you probably know about a character, named Rosaline, first big love of Romeo. However she never loved him back. He was so desperate for her, so his friend urges him to sneak into a Capulet gathering where he can see Rosaline and other beautiful women. There, actually, he meets Juliet.
In this video, Lauren plays Rosa (Rosaline). So this fight symbolizes how that relationship between them, and Luna's feelings are hurting her, because Rosa doesn't love her back.
"I remember what you told me. Said that we are not lovers, we are just strangers, with the same damn hunger, to be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all" - this words actually reflect Rosa's rejection for Luna's love.
Luna (Romeo) is losing the fight, until she sees Solis (Juliet). Than her feelings suddenly change: "Did my heart love till now?" - are words written by Shakespeare. Then Luna (Romeo) fought harder, and she wins. She finally released herself from that toxic love she had for Rosa, realizing that she has to love herself more than she loves anyone else.
In the end of this video, she give Solis a necklace of Aureum house, and he gives her his necklace from Angelous house. They became two star crossed lovers.
The rest of the story is in Now or never, Sorry, Bad at love, Alone.

@nako4862

Please read all

So it tells the things before Now Or Never ?
Lauren and Halsey (luna) were lovers but then , they became rivals (but we dont know why ) at the end of the fight , Luna wins and Solis has seen all the match too
And then they became lovers

But why Halsey was against Lauren ?
Or what happened between them ?
We need a video that tells before this ( Lauren and Luna's love)
(Edit : Oh and we know that this video shot last year , so maybe it really tells the previous events)

(Edit 2 : Lauren's character is Rosa , and in Romeo and Juliet , Rosa is Romeo's lover before Juliet but their family were against them too so their love was broke too. And in Halsey's version romeo is halsey , juliet is the guy , so that makes sense .)

I love how Halsey is open about her bisexuality and is representing herself in gay relationships in her music videos as well as straight ones.
