Winin' Boy Blues
Laurie Hugh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Wining boy don't deny my name
Just a wining boy, I said don't deny my name,
Wining boy don't deny my name
Pick it up and shake it, like sweet baby Jane
Wining boy don't deny my name

Well, mama mama come and take a look at little sis
I said mama mama come and take a look at little sis
Said mama mama take a look at sis
She's out there on the levee doin the double twist
Wining boy don't deny my name

Sister, sister, she's a dirty little sow
I said sister, sister, she's a dirty little sow
Well sister sister dirty little sow
She wants to be a bad girl but she don't know how
Wining boy don't deny my name

Well spider spider she's climbing up that wall
I said spider spider she's climbing up that wall
Said spider spider climbing up the wall
???
Wining boy don't deny my name

Well just a wining boy don't deny my name
Just a wining boy, I said don't deny my name,
I'm a wining boy don't deny my name

Pick it up and shake it, stir the chain
Wining boy don't deny my name

I heartily approve of how he doesn't try to sound too...

Dammit man this is great. I knew he could play guitar but I didn`t know he was that good. This music is perfect for being alone, sitting in your easy chair, lights low, cold beer in hand, eyes closed unwinding after a long day. It`s also perfect travel music when your cruising on the interstate or sitting in a airplane. I`m gonna have to get this disc, I`m impressed. Rock On Bluesman House,,,, Rock On.

Charlie Sargent

I've seen a live recording of this song and Hugh is singing and strumming along, but definitely not playing the impressive guitar lead that you hear. On another note Hugh's piano laying is amazing - especially like playing on St James Infirmary.

Nice job Hugh! Jorma should hear this.

Sawedoffsob

This House Music sounds a little too jazzy for me.

Not "Steve and Jane." It's "stavin' chain"' which is (or was) a tool used in cooperage.

Grant Harris Music

It’s pick it up and shake it like a staving chain.
