Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Le'Andria Johnson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Christ by highest heav'n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth

Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Le'Andria Johnson's version of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing are a praise and worship to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who was born in Bethlehem. The first verse celebrates the peace and mercy that was brought to earth through His birth, as He reconciled God and sinners. The nations are called to celebrate with the angelic host, as they proclaim the glory of the newborn King. The verse ends with a repetition of the chorus, reminding the listeners of the joyous message of Christ's birth.

The second verse continues with the adoration of Jesus Christ, as He is the highest heaven-adored Lord and everlasting. As the offspring of the Virgin Mary, He came to earth to be with mankind, in human form. He is hailed as the incarnate Deity, who was pleased to dwell amongst men. The chorus repeats again, proclaiming the glory of the King who was born in Bethlehem.

Finally, the song ends with a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, who is the Prince of Peace and Son of Righteousness. He brings light and life to all who believe in Him, offering healing through His wings. As He is born for the purpose of saving mankind, those who believe in Him will be born again, and will be raised to life once more. The chorus repeats a final time, calling all to recognize the newborn King's glory.
