Nobody Said It Was Easy
LeRoux Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's just another daydream
The kids will be okay
It's just another detour
They haven't lost their way

They're lookin' for the lights
Somewhere they're shining
Lookin for the lights
Oh, oh
Lookin' for the lights
That silver lining
Lookin' for the lights
Oh, oh

Sometimes you hate it
Sometimes you love it
Sometimes you don't know
What to think of it

Nobody said it was easy
Nobody said it was
Nobody said it was easy
Nobody said it
Now is not time to give up

Some, they love the money
Some, they love the fame
Some, they don't love anything at all
I don't know why they came

Lookin' for the lights
Somewhere they're shining
Lookin' for the lights
Oh, oh
Lookin' for the lights
That silver lining
Lookin' for the lights
Oh, oh

Sometimes you hate it
Sometimes you love it
Sometimes you don't know
What to think of it

Nobody said it was easy
Nobody said it was
Nobody said it was easy

Nobody said it
Now is not time to give up

Overall Meaning

The song "Nobody Said It Was Easy" by LeRoux is a powerful message about persevering through tough times. The lyrics speak about how life can be difficult, but we shouldn't give up hope. It starts by saying, "It's just another daydream. The kids will be okay. It's just another detour. They haven't lost their way." This establishes the idea that while things may be tough, there is always a silver lining.

The song then goes on to say how some people are searching for money, fame, and success, while others just feel lost. But despite this, everyone is ultimately searching for the same thing: "Looking for the lights somewhere they're shining, looking for the lights that silver lining." The message in this chorus is that no matter what we are going through, we all want hope and a reason to keep going.

The song ends by stating that "Now is not time to give up." This is a message of encouragement and a reminder that even when things seem impossible, we can find a way through. The overall meaning of the song is to push through hard times and find a glimmer of hope in the darkness.

This group will never know what an inspiration they were for me. I was driving through Tennessee and Kentucky and I heard this song. It kept me on the right track. "Now is no time to give up." Thank you!

@gravano2

I heard this while touring Canada in 82 - stuck out as a great tune .

Scott, in the past, we've talked about your sexual confusion. Soft rock does not necessarily equal being gay -- not that there's anything wrong with that. What is sad is your constant denial and using metal music to cover your true feelings. I know, I know. That Karen Carpenter buried deep inside of you is dying to get out.

@Mandilore89

I wouldn't bother with that asshole. I love heavy metal but I also appreciate music like this. I'm from Baton Rouge and I heard LaRoux growing up and my favorite genre of all is European Power Metal.

@Blacktop_Rabinowitz

I was driving through Tennessee and Kentucky, fleeing the cops, when his song came on the radio. Right then and there, I decided that prison life was better than this song. So I gave up.

@@Mandilore89 im originally from "Cenla" -- and Le Roux was HUGE in Louisiana at that time. They firsr were called "Louisiana's Le Roux", then if course, dropped "Louisiana". I had a blast growing up in Louisiana in the 80s!

Tony is my cousin and I miss listening to LeRoux, I wore out my cassette tape way back in the 80's. Glad to hear the songs again and know that they still are doing dates.

Finally, I found who sing this song!

@uraigroves7898

this song brought me joy in may of 1982 when I saw it on MTV...I was 19 and in the air force and was kind of lost and lonely. this song gave me hope - as cheesy as that sounds...

@eaglechildkeys

When the songs were composed from the bottom of the heart.
